Bryan Richardson tried to buy success, during the 90's he brought in players like McAlister, Keane, Hadji, Huckerby etc. etc etc.

No one complained at the time, in fact quite the opposite.

It's only in hindsight that we can see what damage he was doing to the club financially.

I think part of the reason no one complained was because the information on the finances was harder to get, less well understood, and not widely reported - it is different now 14 years after he left. The main source was Companies House and you had to pay for the information for example now its free and a couple of clicks on the internet. But the warning signs were there. So long as the club scraped by in the Premiership all was well no one challenged what was going on, problems began to surface when CCFC got relegated as people looked for someone to blame and those in control looked to divert that blame away. BR was not the only director and the others share joint & several liability for the decisions made under his tenure, but also before and since

Football finance just wasn't as big of an issue back then. It never crossed my mind to wonder where the money was coming from to pay the type of players we had.

Then of course by the time the realisation came it was too late.

Fun fact- ants can't be the size of dogs because there isn't enough oxygen.

Hi peeler, nice to have you on board. I'd guess with that name you work for West Mids or Warks plod....or run the Shockwave ride at Drayton Manor

Ultimately, but basically the other Directors had such a light touch that a lot of shit happened before they started to scrutinise the details and that was only when they began to realise the capital in their interest bearing loans to the club were no longer safe. (in my opinion).
