Spares were in abundance from Aldermans Green, think it was called John Kipping? or something like that. Was forever changing the rubber doughnuts on the bloody cars :banghead:
Anyone remember the garage with Jaguar painted on the roof just down the road from Highfield Rd?
I had a sand colour Morris Marina 1.8 Super - SOK 252S.
Terrible car. Driving down the A45 one day, a spring snapped on the accelerator and the throttle fully opened. Took me by surprise but fortunately I wasn't driving up someones arse!
Yeah very light on the back, a couple of slabs in the boot did the trick. My mate had one and he spun it every time it was wet.
Correct. 1.8 BMC B Series as used in many different Austin/Morris/Riley/Wolseley/MG's etcYeah very light on the back, a couple of slabs in the boot did the trick.
Think they had the same engine as the MGB going on the engine note.
Would you know which engine Saab had.Correct. 1.8 BMC B Series as used in many different Austin/Morris/Riley/Wolseley/MG's etc
Swan Lane opposite Heath rd? Think it was once a Jag dealer or similar.Where abouts was that?
I have noticed there is a little one opened up on Brown's Lane now selling old jags.
Jeez brian thought you meant the one from the kids programme.I thought this was a Coventry website not Brum*! LOL!!!
*It's a play on words: Brum as in Birmingham and brum as in the sound a car makes!
I had a sky blue avenger , sold it to Heath road motors for a Vauxhall magnum , I had explained to the guy on the phone that it had some corrosion challenges , I took it up there and he came out said it didn't look to bad but that was the good side The car had run for most of its life on 7,5 valves it was a shit car but never let me down - back plenty big enough for other operations if you know what I mean
Would you know which engine Saab had.
Think my grandad said they had an 1800.
I've always thought the lovely burble of the Saab 2.0 litre turbo of the 80'S and 90's was alike the Dolomite 1850.
Believe Nissan used an old BMC 1800 as well in their early 70's-80's pick ups.
There were some proper rot boxes around in the 60's and 70's, yet it was a myth about Japanese motors being better
Datsuns were terrible corroders, admittedly they had more kit in them as standard.
