A game has been released that will help with research into dementia -

"LEARN MORE ABOUT THE GAME

As well as navigating the icy Arctic Rivers and the glorious Golden Shores, you can also navigate your way around here to see how game developers, Glitchers, together with University College London, University of East Anglia and Alzheimer's Research came together to bring Sea Hero Quest to life.

The game is made up of three main tasks; navigating mazes, shooting flares to test players’ orientation, and chasing creatures to capture photos of them. From the penguins, to the mammoth hidden in the ice, every element of the game was carefully crafted to be as fun and exciting as it is scientifically valid.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE SEAS

One of the first symptoms of dementia is loss of navigational skills. Currently there is no benchmark that shows whether someone is getting lost because of the disease or natural ageing. Now everyone can be part of helping to create one. And don’t worry, even if you’re not a great navigator, it doesn’t mean you’re more likely to get dementia."
