Good decision IMO. His signings might not have been up to much (although this season batch seem better) but I do think he's the right man for us

Yes this club needs stability top to bottom and I don't see any better options out there.

Agreed. Has his faults ?(especially transfers) but he's as good as well get and as good as we've had in recent times. I'd happily give him 3-5 years to run the club now were back.

When you get nothing to spend on players you get what you get, Some may turn out good buys others don't..:thinking about:

Then again spend loads they could still end up shit....

I think he contrasts badly with Robins just before him as well who picked up some excellent signings. And (for some before Grendel appears) Thorn had a few decent signings too. Pressleys yet to bring in any real new terrace heroes (though he has produced some with the academy) though from the looks of the likes of O'Brien and Nouble he may do this season.

Must admit I think the jury has most definitely been out on him...only time will tell if he can walk the walk. Having said that he massively went up in my estimation after his post match interviews after Gillingham. He does seem to have the passion and although he'll need more than that I do think he's worth taking a chance on.

We need a period of stability. He has his faults, everyone does. He seems to be working on the right lines. I feel he will improve over the next two seasons...so why not?

His ability to identify a player is my only major concern regarding SP. The turnover of players who have arrived and gone again after not cutting it is very high. As a coach it's hard to question his record.

I'd give him a contract extension for stability reasons and it puts value on him. should he turn out a plonker, on the crap wages sisu will pay him it wouldn't cost that much to pay him off.

Two of our best Fleck and Murphy.
Attempted to sign DMC before he was sacked.

Also responsible for a lot of the signings prior to his appointment as well.

I don't really think Pressley has had many faults? I think he's the best manager we've had in a very long time, and hes completely committed to the cause.

Yeh he signed a couple of players that were dog shit...but come on we were on a one in one out rule with the player coming in needing to be 75% of the wages of the players going out. Were playing in a crappy stadium in front of 1500-2000 fans, and the whole fanbase was alienated.

Didn't expect him to sign any gems really

He has a genuine love for the club i think , i admire his passion , his desire , but they should have waited out until the latter stages of the season , as if we finish below 9th , we have got worse.
not saying i believe that will happen , but still with this squad made up of championship esc players and youth , we should be challenging top 6 .
happy for pressley , but he has to deliver

Surely all the more reason to be effective with the money we do have?

Pressley's signings are poor according to Pressley, only one of last season's didn't get released or sold within a year, and that was his bezzy mate.

His issue is that he buys far too many, we've brought in 5 strikers this summer for example. He very much used the pebbledash approach to signing players.

Fair point - but were we not in dire need of numbers as I remember it? I remember many a time on Football Manager having no money and needing some squad players so signing some questionable free's to make up the numbers. Fans weren't happy with that either haha!

I hear what you're saying, but perhaps disagree with your point that the 75% rule means you need to be more effective with the signings...it would be if we had a big squad but the fact we were lacking in depth meant you and I would probably have got a game if we turned up with our boots!

pressley is still learning himself, he admitted that his transfers were poor and he had to research them more, i believe he now talks to them indepth about the high press to guage wether they are truly up for it or not

and when his subs cost us vs swindon he took the blame, sometimes managers dont do that publically.

give him long as possible, we need some stability. He has a long term plan and i for one want to see it realised.

Like who?

Funny that the responsibility for signings was down to Waggot when they didn't turn out to be any good.

Makes sense to me - I think his stock has risen quite quickly, so why not tie him down longer term and offer him a more competitive wage. I am more than happy with his commitment, style of play (and how this is evolving with losing the goals out of the team), and his honesty, which is a big quality in my book (not that I a writing a book).

4 strikers if you view McQuoid as a utility striker/mid. Which I think puts a different slant on things. I think last season it was desperate measures at times and we needed bodies, the pool he could select from was very limited let's be honest. Plus our scouting network seems non existent.

this year I think Tudgay was let's just get someone in as we had no strikers and seen as a short term solution. Tudgay was unsure himself whether he wanted football this year?

we do now though need to start being a bit more shrewd about signings. I would still like to see another central mid in there someone who can put there foot in and win possession.

Why on earth would I not count a player who is our top scorer, has played up front in every game this season and has had press interviews with both him and Pressley saying he was brought in to play striker, as a striker?

Agreed about the need for a CM, though I don't share the irrational hatred of Conor Thomas some do.
