It's weird isn't it.Got talking to an elderly customer today. She was saying how much Coventry had changed in her lifetime, and not for the better. But what surprised me was that she'd never been to our cathedral or the Motor Museum. Two well known visiting attractions of our city. She had no interest in either even though she's active and gets out and about.
Got me thinking has anybody on here never been to those places ?
Surely not !

You will find no-one less interested in cars than me. I really have no interest whatsoever and wouldn't have a clue what having 4 cylinders means, or even care how quick a car can get from 0-60, but I still find the transport museum a fantastic place. I really love it there and have been so many times.
I love the cathedral too and St Mary's Guildhall and the Herbert. It's amazing though how many people you talk to who have never been to any of them.
Every single person I have ever met that has declared a lack of interest in motor vehicles has had something of the night about them, a rather shifty ilk, a touch of the Darth Vaders.......and they smell.Don't care about cars - motor museum is great
Not religious - cathedral is beautiful
Sometimes people travel to the other side of the world and have to see all the sights but don't see what's on their doorstep. Although I'm sure al Coventry schools do a trip to the cathedral, mine did at least.
But it has 3 heat settings and leather piping, how can you not be interested in that? ;]Depends what you class as an interest?
If I see a brand new Ferrari cruising around I'll take an interest but if you start wittering on about the new Ford Focus' heated gearstick then mostly I'd want to pull your teeth out with pliers.
Wellllll, why didn't you say??But it has 3 heat settings and leather piping, how can you not be interested in that? ;]
I was afraid you would get the pliers out.Wellllll, why didn't you say??
I have no interest in everyday cars really, but I do have a love of classics and unique cars and couldn't care less about the new Mondeo, BMW 3 series etc. My good lady works for Mclaren so we talk cars quite a bit in my house, well I do, I get more exited about things she is doing at work than she does.I enjoy driving And picking out my next car but people who are really in to cars are odd. They tend to have better friends made of metal than flesh.
You see, I look at sports cars and expensive cars like Ferrari's and Lamborghini's and I just think what's the point and what a waste of money.Depends what you class as an interest?

I think it is the thrill seeker in people that interests them in those sort of cars, the fact they are at the cutting edge of design/engineering and quite dangerous. People who buy them don't see it as a waste of money in the same way people don't see it as a waste of money to upgrade the 12" black and white TV to a 4k 50" inch one, you can watch TV just fine on the 12" black and white but it's a much richer experience on the 4k.You see, I look at sports cars and expensive cars like Ferrari's and Lamborghini's and I just think what's the point and what a waste of money.
Don't think I have ever got excited over any car ever.
May have something to do with my family never having a car though. I was the first person in our family to get a car.
I know how to change a tyre, tune the radio and switch the wipers on to fast mode, but that's just about where my knowledge ends.

Show off!I like my 12" black and white TV.
It does make watching the snooker quite challenging.I like my 12" black and white TV.
I think the same about Men that don't like football! Bloody weirdos!!Every single person I have ever met that has declared a lack of interest in motor vehicles has had something of the night about them, a rather shifty ilk, a touch of the Darth Vaders.......and they smell.
Reminds me of a funny story. It does make watching the snooker quite challenging.

Listening to Danny Baker recently he said he'd been to Coventry and had a great day out there. He went to the Sgt Bilko museum and said it was great. I've never heard of it has anybody been ? He told his listeners to go it was brilliant.
Just had a look online and yes its at Fargo village. Been there once to the record stall so may go back and check it out.I think it's at Fargo but Otis would confirm
We went once if I recall. I love the building and we should be proud of it as its known worldwide.Seem to recall we had trips from Callie to the Cathedral bbr? or is my memory playing tricks?

Gone. The place burned down.Another well known place that I've never been in that's known all over the country,was/is the Toy Museum.
Its in Coventry but not sure if its still going ? Read once it was very popular and attracted visitors from all over the world, and it's in our city.
Gone. The place burned down.No idea what happened to all the exhibits.
Shame, it was a great little place and lovely old building.
