Negativity... (1 Viewer)

Hi all :)

Now is it just me or do we have a LOT of negative fans? I've been monitoring all transfer business over the past 3 weeks and everytime we get a player in, someone has to come in and start moaning about how that player is probably shit and that we'll end up back where we were last year etc.

I know we've had 12 years of crap at the hands of some second rate managers and a lot of third rate directors (oh and Shitsu) and you could be excused for being a little bit sceptical but so many Cov fans refuse to accept that this year might be different.

I know i said "might" in that sentence because not even I'm allowing all this to get me to the point where im going gaga and saying we're definately up. But still, at least im being positive about it. So many others just make negative comments practically on every post they comment on (on facebook that is). It's just a little bit infuriating...thats all!

Your thoughts?

Mix it up..

...try lamb burgers instead of beef burgers.

Season with salt, pepper, ground cumin, garlic, chopped fresh mint, coriander, grated lemon zest and crumbled feta cheese.

Serve with plain yoghurt with chopped cucumber and mint .

Hope this helps

Your thoughts?

It os the fans counted as over optimistic that think we will end up where we were last season. In the Championship :) I am starting to be one of them.

It's called life. Not everyone will behave the way you want them to. Personally I think our fans are fucking brilliant but you wouldn t be alone in disagreeing sadly

I fully agree. We have had just 1 year to celebrate in nearly 50. Half of our fans have never had anything to celebrate. But when you look at our away support, especially at times like Southampton last year, you would think we have done better.

I am hoping that our younger fans have reason to celebrate this season as much as for myself. They deserve it as they have had nothing but mediocre times.

I guess I'd be in the negative category. Not yet been inspired by one our signings. None have played in the league we are currently in, couple of centre backs who played on the continent (there's a good chance they'll struggle to adapt to the speed of the English game). Fleck who could be the next Kevin Thornton, all the talent but no will to succeed. Kilbane who's legs are on the way out if not gone already & that donkey Elliott.

I'd more then willing to give them a chance and would never boo one of our own, but I fail to see why everyone is so excited.

Reason they havent played at league one level is they were busy playing at higher levels. Kilbane was the fittest in the early training sessions which must have been difficult on his 'failing' legs i imagine. Fleck is far more talented than Thornton already. Elliott is called a donkey after 20 minutes, obviously those previous premier league and international managers are clueless. Clearly you like to moan at anything and everything and cannot bring yourself to be positive. How about if you have nothing good to say then say nothing at all.

Negativity is a cloak worn by many sadly.

Being a fairly 'new' supporter (in comparison to some here anyway) I always feel optimism when a season starts, be that surviving comfortably as I hoped last year or doing well in 2010/11. This year I think I have more cause to be than before. The only player I'm overly sad to see go is this close season is Keogh and, even then he's not actually gone yet and is far from irreplaceable and I'm very happy with who we've brought in - though I feel Jennings is a must. I'm not getting carried away thinking we'll walk the league, but I see no reason not to be cautiously optimistic.

It's a forum, where people can air their views. If you don't agree then fine, but saying I shouldn't say anything unless it's stupid positive is unfair.
League one is a completely different ball game to the prem, SPL & french reserve league.
Elliott is a donkey, when he was in the premier league he didn't at that point have a serious injury which he hasn't recovered from, if he was so good then why is he playing for us?? it's certainly not for the money.
Fleck, never seen him play but from what the Blackpool fans were saying it certainly sounds like he has all the talent in the world but no desire.
Kilbane, it doesn't matter how he does now it's when hes played 20 games and picked up the odd knock when it's matters. Derby and Hull fans both said his legs were going.

Like I said earlier, i'm more then willing to give them all a chance to prove me wrong, and I hope they do.

The spine of the team should have been built with league one players, good solid dependable players that will play 35+ games a season. Then we could have spent a bit more on bringing in players that would score us goals.

Sorry i'm not stupidly positive, but until I see a reason for that to change then I will stay with my views.

Coventry and people from Coventry are generally negative about most things. The City itself, any new development, the Football Club, pretty much everything.
A new pub opens: "It'll be closed within the month"
New shop planned: "Bet it's a pound shop" etc etc.

I am aware I'm being negative myself here! :D

If negative is being cautious that we might not achieve promotion or even top 6 this season - then call me negative! Someone posted an article that said only 2 or 3 have achieved an instant return to the championship after being relegated.

I don't know enough about our signings bar Kilbane to get excited about them, I am therefore reserving judgement until I've seen them play - a lot of posters are going overboard on Fleck in particular based on a sky sports souring report from 3 years ago, the majority like me have never seen him play.

This was not what i was getting at.

What i was trying to get at was that people are too Negative. It's ok to be a little cautious, even slightly pessamistic, but to be downright negative creates a bad atmosphere not only for the fans but the players too.

You see it on the pitch all the time. Players respond to how the fans react aka...our players last year kept going till the end in a lot of their away matches because the away support was terrific till the end (and the home support too).

Some supporters from other teams start leaving before the game is even finished because they know its over and the players notice this. They then stop putting their all into the last minutes of the game because they've been knocked by the fans lack of belief.

So what i'm saying is, it's ok to have your doubts as to whether we'll be able to make the playoffs, but to turn round and say that we'll probably get relegated or just avoid it is far too negative. It creates bad vibes. Positivity (or hope) however small and in whatever sense you wish to see it as (cautious, pessamistic etc) isn't a bad thing.

This of course is just my opinion and if you wish to remain negative, i can't stop you. What i do hope is that those who are being negative with be proven wrong!
