It is so morose and negative on this forum lately it's unbelievable.
People are already talking about what if cody gets injured, if he's any good he will be sold ,Ben turner has a dig at sisu etc etc.
Uptil yesterday it was we won't buy anyone were doomed were finished.
Now we have signed someone things are looking rosie again, fuck me cody had better get a hat-trick in his first game otherwise were be doomed again he's shit what a waste of money etc etc.
Sisu will be blamed for him not scoring orange ken must have put a clause in that hes not allowed to score.
FFS some people really need to lighten up a bit, theres opinions and discussions but it's just all going around in circles of doom and gloom.
No wonder were struggling with the negative attitude around the place not just inside the club but I would say it is worse outside.
If a player read this lot they would give in, never sign, or want to gert the f*** out of dodge city as quick as they can.

It has been nothing but pain and failure and apathy for so long now it is completely understandable.

I think that is what city fans are like. They are so fickle it is unbelievable and I can't blame people for being a bit grumpy! I am hardly happy coming away from the Ricoh any more. If anything it just ruins my day!

It is always during the summer or international breaks it gets worse as there are no games so nothing to talk about.

Quite honestly, the diehards who go up to the ricoh and beyond every week have full licence to moan and whinge as much as they like in my eyes; it's the fairweather fans you meet out and about (several of my friends are) that really annoy me!! Still beggars belief that a one team city of our size can't fill our stadium, despite our repeated failures, it's infuriating!

Anyway, to get back on topic, i'm feeling a little more positive now we have signed a young, pacey finisher and have held on to Sammy and Jukebox. The important thing is that we as fans give Cody time to bed in and adjust to Championship football. Loving his highlight reel on YouTube, let's get behind the boys at the next game!!

Yeah I couldn't believe the thread about what happens if Cody gets injured! The negativity is seeping from everywhere. It's like people are waiting for bad things to happen.

I completely understand both sides here, it can be very very difficult to get excited as a Cov fan these days. Especially when any time there's anything decent going on, the fairweathers come out in droves and act like there was never any problem.

The signing of CMcD though I think could be a massive boost, he might not be the next Alan Shearer, so what? As long as he gets 10+ that's not a failure in my eyes. It's all going to depend on the service..

Its nearly always been like chinese torture supporting cov not just the last 10 years, even when we had a team once called the entertainers there has always been something missing.
However my point is its just all the constant negativity with what will happen if and when hes injured or any players injured etc etc.
Its all sisu's fault and if you try and say well maybe this is not there fault then your a judas and a sisu lover etc etc.
Even the letter from sisu someone has put on here is a complete load of shit and lies, maybe it's not all lies in the letter???
To some people sisu,orange ken etc are the devil's reincarnated and everything anyone says is a lie, well maybe just maybe rr and gh were lying as well.
Now I am no supporter of either of them because there all like polititions full of empty promises and lies to get you on there side, but to some your not allowed any kind of opinion that goes against the grain of the majority and it's just best to be a doom and gloom merchant.

A huge range of views get expressed on this forum, everything from suicidal doom & gloom to an optimism that borders on insanity.

I'm in the rather negative camp at the moment (as are the majority), but that is the result of my previous mild optimism being rewarded with a series of below mid table finishes over many years & the severe cost cutting measures currently being implemented that are so deleterious to the playing side as to make City relegation favourites.

If you had asked me the year after we went down from the Premiership & had failed to bounce back how long it would take to rreturn I would have said cheerily "Oh, it won't be instantly but we will be back up in ten years tops", that now looks wildly over optimistic & I think it will be another 5 to 10 by the time we are in a position to challenge for pomotion (that includes time enough to drop to league one, have a good clear out & come back up to the championship).

Apart from our continued support all we can do as fans is hope the next owners have the money & ambition to match our expectations, combined with the ability to manage the club on a sound basis.

I understand peoples frustration but we should use these signing and our big players staying to try and kick on, build some momentum and try and get a feel good atmosphere around Coventry City again. Hoffman's deal is dead for now for so we should all move on with our lives.

People being negative or people being realistic? The fact is holding onto Juke and Sammy yesterday only gives us a fighting chance of survival, if them two had left we may aswell have jacked this season in and started building for League 1 next year. Hopefully McDonald will hit the ground running but it's must be so difficult playing upfront for us, our midfield is simply appauling, every game I've seen thus far this season I don't think we've created a real chance. We've scored two goals which have just been the result of hopeful balls into the box and goal line scrambles. Apart from Clingan I don't think we've got another midfielder up to it at this level, you've got a few of the kids where it remains to be seen. Gael has started brilliantly but he's not going to be able to maintain that for 46 games. Everybody has been talking about strikers and righty so in many ways but our real problem is in midfield, has been for as many years as I can remeber now to be quite honest.

I fully expect to go down this year so in many ways I'm looking forward to it in a strange way because anything else would be a bonus.

Yesterday was an ok day for CCFC:

We needed a striker, we got one (unproven maybe but a striker we got).
We needed some money so we sold a defender. (750k-1.25m??? some were unhappy but the facts are he has not played for a while and we have other players in this position)
We will get some money from the Dann deal. (150k - 300k??)
We never signed the beast (nobody wanted a lump of a striker from what was written on here)
We held onto Sammy and Juke (sounds like we had bids for the latter and SISU could have sold!)

Have I missed anything?

Negatives are of course the need for more creativity.

I'd have taken Parkin in a heartbeat, your telling me he's going to be no better than Eastwood or O'Donovan? Plus McDonald is still completely unproven at this level.

Never had a problem about Parkin, the only thing I was worried about was that he was only coming to replace Juke. In fact I still believe that rather than what it says on the offal about resisting bids, we shall have to see what happens in January.

Me too. Parkin had come and Juke would have gone. McDonald was our number one target so what does that tell you? 1. We were bringing two strikers in to support Platt, Eastwood, Juke, ROD and Jeffers? or 2. we were bringing two strikers in because one was going out!

People assume Juke did not leave because the Parkin deal fell down but I would like to think that the Parkin deal fell down becuase the club had decided Juke was staying.

Theres anger and revulasion and then there's negativity.
The anger should be at them all not just sisu for this, but how far back to you go with it? that includes the takeover bid when they were all trying to bitch at eachother and in the media all the time trying to win friends, but thats history as are all the past cases of who have been in chrge.
However negativity is, what happens if we get injuries ie: cody, juke has been going for ages and yet he is still here, were doomed 4 games into the season.
These are some of the instances I mean about negativity and everyone has there right to an opinion that is not what I am saying.
Ok lets put the sisu thing another way, what would happen if tomorrow they suddenly said enoughs enough were out and pulled the plug?
There are no investors as far as i know queing up in longford and the surrounding areas ready to take us over, so then sisu would be wrong again for not getting any iinvestors in before they pulled the plug.
I am not a sisu lover or hater I just cannot at the moment see a real alternative to them and whoever comes in you cannot surely tell me hand on heart that they will be any better?
As like all new parties who take over anything they can get away with back tracking on anything by blaming the last people in charge.

I didn't expect great things from the transfer window but it could have been an awful lot worse. Turner hasn't played for ages and has had a knee injury that we don't know the extent of. We have strength in that area so not the end of the world. We've held onto Clingan and Juke and have a lot of injured players to come back. McDonald looks like an excellent prospect to me - good in the air and with the ball at his feet, an excellent finisher and pacy. I don't see we are a lot worse off than we were last season. I think it was the right decision to let King go - we couldn't afford his wages and now he's injured. We're never going to challenge for the play-offs but mid-table should be achievable. PUSB

We are a lot worse off than last season because of the tiny squad and now over-reliance on the kids.

Not so sure about this Premier League loan thing either though. Great to get players in but I would rather they were players that had potential to become permanent transfers for us than giving some Premier League young stars a knee up while our talented kids get pushed back out into the wilderness.

It's all about balance. We need loans but we still need to nurture the progress of the likes of Ruffles, Biggi, Christie and Thomas at the same time.

I was expecting the worse yesterday and lose some more key players but we didnt, we lost Turner which is slightly dissapointing particurly for the amount but we got a promising striker. I for one will trust Thorn in his assessment of this purchase, if he was his number one target (i really think ALF was in truth) he must have soemthing about him. Unfortunately with the wave of negativity, people will sadly jump on the guy as soon as he doesnt start scoring.

The biggest disappointment was the fact that we did not get a decent midfielder, we still have no creativity, Baker or Bell are not the answer sadly and this will be the cause of our shortfall of goals. I think we have a potential good partnership upfront in Juke and cody then Plattini to come on as a battering ram when things are not going to plan. We still need to invest no doubt but the more important questions are how long can we stay afloat???
