I'm not religious either but since I was diagnosed with cancer 3 1/2 years ago I give an Aztec god of health a rub that I purchased in Mexico as souvenir. Its cheap tat but has done me proud so far. I've just given it a rub for both you and your missus in the hope you both come out of this OK.

Quick update. Went to see herthis morning. She was awake and reasonably responsive. She got tearful because she thought she'd never see me again. Her daughter came over from Coventry and has sat with her for a couple of hours.
Thank you all so much for your kind words and thoughts. It genuinely means such a lot. A great Sky Blue family!
Love to you all x

After tests, she has sepsis, low oxygen intake, anemia, and pneumonia. I phoned hospital just now (9.10 pm) and they said she's had a blood transfusion and is on an antibiotic drip, so fingers crossed. I just feel so guilty not realising she was so poorly.

Don't feel guilty. Even professionals struggle to know these things without the tests.

Thanks SBD. It's a weird feeling. It's like feeling guilty about surviving a disaster and you being a survivor. I'm sure I'll get over it when she's home. I've had loads of support from social services etc. I've got her into a day centre twice a week and have all sorts of alarms fitted around the bungalow for falls etc. Everyone has been so kind and helpful. Feeling really emotional at the moment. Thankfully, I have fantastic neighbours who have rallied round me today.

Honestly mate, when I said about mum in the summer, we were there in the day she was fine. Started feeling unwell around 9pm, by 10.30 downhill, dad called the ambulance at midnight and it was really very close, so dont beat yourself up, once it takes hold it's very rapid and was beginning to shut down organs. Hopefully you've caught it in time too.

Keep your spirits up mate. Sounds like it's been a pretty hard time that's caused some shock. Fingers crossed for you in a few days things will be looking much better. Hang in there!

My eldest daughter travelled all the way from Nottingham to see my missus in hospital. It's only her stepmum, but she is very close. It took her 3 train changes and nearly a 3 hour journey to get to Worcester Royal, bless her. I met her at the station. Then she had to journey back this evening. She won't get back home until around 10pm.
We're all extremely humbled by the kind messages of support from you all. My faith in human nature is truly restored. Bless you all. Not completely out of the woods yet, but in a far better position.
Much love, Baz, Wendy and family.

@Joe King

I hope your wife is home today.

The discharge procedures in a lot of hospitals can be a bit hit and miss - I’m being polite - so it’s possible that it might not happen today. I’m only saying it’s possible and hopefully all will go to plan.

Try not to worry in that event, it’s just often how these things go. Think how delighted you would have been a few days ago if you had been told she would be home tomorrow!

Hopefully you will be reunited at home later today.

I'm just going up there now (10.15). I've tried phoning the ward but no one is picking up.

My thoughts are with you and your family! I'm happy to see that after a close call, Mrs King is safe and getting better!

It's nice that the whole community stepped up to support too! Everyone who responded quicker can be proud of yourselves! It's heartening to see that despite all the differing opinions on football, politics or whatever, we seemingly help one another out!

Sorry HH, I completely missed this, but I'm very glad to hear that it sounds like things are on the mend.

I've been quietly fuming about missing the Ipswich game, and then quietly fuming about the result, and then you read this thread and it puts everything back into its proper perspective.

Like everyone else here, I send nothing but best wishes for your wife's quick recovery. Obviously you've had a shock too, so make sure you're kind to yourself mate; you're no use to anyone if you get laid up too!
