Anybody else in the ground think they have made the pitch a yard shorter each side.. It might be because of the tv camera .. But definitely seems a lot more grass at the sides ....... Then again maybe I'm pissed

It was narrowed about 2 years ago.

Nice of you to notice though.

Was like that Saturday. You could see the lines from Olympic matches. Good foot and half narrower.

Because they widened them for the Olympics.

1 1/2 yards at the touchlines and 2 yards at the goal lines. Assuming the pitch was the same size as the olympic matches. So it is 4 yards shorter and 3 yards narrower.

You can see where the lines were for the Olympics. Definitely wider for those games.

think all we have done is widen it for the Olympics and then narrow it back down again for us.

I think it was mentioned tonight by Harry Roberts that the pitch had been narrowed.

I was definitely taken in a couple of years ago because me and my mate used to relentlessly say "That would still be in on the old pitch" to wind people up. Back when we were in the Telegraph stand.

Could well have been narrowed further still though.

Why? That would be daft wouldn't it?

Seems the realistic explanation is that we have the pitch narrow, but the Olympics were coming and I would guess it had to be widened for that. It would then have been narrowed again to back to what it was for us after the Olympics finished.

Tonight was my first game this season and it is definitely narrower now than last season.

Thorn had it narrowed to help us defend using a diamond midfield.

Should have made the pitch as big as possible to help break teams down who will come and defend in the lge.

Definately narrower this season. Sit down at the front and the players are alot further away now.

Well maybe we will see it widen again in the next few weeks depending on who comes in!

There are some variances at clubs but they must all keep within the regulation sizes.

Usually 110 - 120 yards x 70 - 80 yards.

Most English clubs in the top two or three divisions use 115 x 74. variations apear depending on the club/stadium.
I would suspect you must lodge the information and can't be changing it around each week!
