He’s an attacking fullback and when we are attacking is one of the 5 furthest forward players, and he still bailed Thomas out multiple times thanks to the fact he could get back.
There’s a real trend among some on here to start shit talking anyone who leaves the club for any reason.
Luton signed Ryan giles for around 5 million and Milan is miles clear of gilesHow many full backs go for more?
Yeah, his main strength is his recovery pace. I think KKH could be a better weapon in attack as he inverts on the attack a lot more than MVE who likes to overlap in a more traditional way. There were times on Saturday was in the right 10 position when we had the ball.Im not sure I buy the whole “caught out of position “ thing - often just a football cliche which is often incorrectly used.
His job was often to get high up the pitch when we have the ball, but fortunately he has the pace to make excellent recovery runs. If the ball gets turned over because someone else has lost possession, it’s not his fault he is high up the pitch and an opponent is now behind him?!
Still think he was / is a better defensive outlet than an attacking one.

Love MVE but he definately gets caught out of position often and uses pace to recover.Im not sure I buy the whole “caught out of position “ thing - often just a football cliche which is often incorrectly used.

But also prone to brain farts like in the playoffs against Sunderland. He’s an attacking fullback and when we are attacking is one of the 5 furthest forward players, and he still bailed Thomas out multiple times thanks to the fact he could get back.

Im with jamesimus , any fullback gets caught out time to time when asked to play high up the pitch .. the fact he can recover is what makes him so valuable to the team
But also prone to brain farts like in the playoffs against Sunderland.
Has been a great player for us. We are lucky to have signed him. Played nearly the whole of last season when we didn't have proper cover for him. But it seems like he is going to have been the perfect player for us in the future.
Tbf MVE has over 100 top flight appearances under his belt and more than twice the amount of first team appearances than KKH.KKH has played a similar number of Championship games and attracts the 'english premium' and was £3.5m. In that context £6m+ looks good, albeit MVE had played in the dutch top flight as well.
The revisionism of MVE and what he has brought to this team is actually mental.
He faded a bit last season admittedly, but wasn't he the only player to feature in every single game too?
His performance against Man U and Rashford shows you the levels he is capable of.
Its a big loss for us , one of the leagues best
We have another of the leagues best to replace himIts a big loss for us , one of the leagues best
Yeah, I thought it could be bad but I've heard no news, a worry if MVE goes then we're back to Lati filling in at RB for the forseeable.Bad timing!
Looking at KKH yesterday, looked like ankle ligaments......
Also thought this.Still think he was / is a better defensive outlet than an attacking one.
I acknowledged that in my postTbf MVE has over 100 top flight appearances under his belt and more than twice the amount of first team appearances than KKH.
Exactly!!!Its a big loss for us , one of the leagues best
Djed Spence went from Boro for 3 times that amount several years ago and has gone on to do fuck all. Yes there's the 'English' tax but even so, I really didn't think 8 figures for MVE was unrealistic. If true, which I find unlikely, £6.5m is a bit underwhelming. I would think he’s worth at least 20-30% more, and I don’t think that’s with any bias. On the NTT20 podcast they flagged him as the champs best full back, and I’d suggest you’re expecting 8 figures for anyone like that, especially at only 24yo
The upfront obviously means it’s getting spent straight away if trueDjed Spence went from Boro for 3 times that amount several years ago and has gone on to do fuck all. Yes there's the 'English' tax but even so, I really didn't think 8 figures for MVE was unrealistic.
I'll believe the terms when I see them from a better source than one serial bullshitter and another poster who's admitted he hasn't got any sources. The upfront obviously means it’s getting spent straight away.
I’m expecting some big signings now in the next week or two
Yeah completely agreeI'll believe the terms when I see them from a better source than one serial bullshitter and another poster who's admitted he hasn't got any sources.
If it is up front, it means they can afford a bigger fee. We should be getting more.
i would say so yesIs he definitely an upgrade?
