I see it’s the FA Cup Draw this weekend.

Who will we get? Big club? Small club at home? Another cup run?

No thanks. I hope we lose and get the sideshow out the way.

MAD - I think not

Agreed. I hope we put out the weakest team possible and lose. Not interested this year!

We'll probably get someone like Blues away knowing our luck and have them back-to-back after the league fixture.

Agree G. Hoping for a League 1/2 team where we play a weakened team and get knocked out.

The FA cup run was one of the best times I’ve had as a City fan. I’d love to do both, why can’t we win the league and FA cup

We must have the most boring 3rd round draw record going.

  • 2022–23: Wrexham (National League)
  • 2021–22: Derby County (Championship)
  • 2020–21: Norwich City (Championship)
  • 2019–20: Bristol Rovers (League One)
  • 2018–19: Norwich City (Championship)
  • 2017–18: Stoke City (Premier League)
  • 2016–17: Brighton & Hove Albion (Championship)
  • 2015–16: Portsmouth (League Two)
  • 2014–15: Cardiff City (Championship)
  • 2013–14: Barnsley (Championship)

  • 2011–12: Southampton (Championship)
  • 2010–11: Birmingham City (Premier League)

I do love the FA Cup and am a bit gutted when we're not involved in the later draws, but our current squad seems a bit too stretched for the extra distraction.
Hopefully draw a lower league team so we can put out a weaker team for players who aren't getting a look in, and see what happens.

The league should be full priority. Promotion is a lot more likely than winning the FA cup

I am going for worse case scenarios one of the Big 4 away or worse Villa - then see what everyone says - the Band Wagoners and FOMO’s will be beside themselves to see our strongest team - then we will have MAD - put out the B team if it exists and let them go for it

easy 3rd round draw
Win the 13 games ahead of Round 4 to put us on 79 points with 15 games to go - and then focus on winning the cup

What are 13-point cushions even for, if not for allowing a reckless FA Cup run where we get a few more days out (and TV paydays) en route?

Ah yes, 2014/15 we definitely got knocked out by Cardiff City in the 3rd round....nothing of note happened in round 1 *

*see also 15/16, 16/17 and 18/19 where we didn't even make the 3rd round.

Be ok at home - been all the way to Arsenal for a cup game and it wasn’t worth the effort

PL team from London who aren't Brentford away.

Nice big away allocation, day out in London and should get the cup over and down with in 1 game.

Wonder if we’ll be one of those heavy balls to draw a premier league team at home on a Friday night?

I think it depends on the draw. Big name at home, full house - hard to just throw the game at that point.

Non league club at home, give them their big day out against our kids and fringe players. Let them win, and let them progress to the 4th round.

Might sound mad, but that could mean a little club has financial security for a few years, not to mention a massive 4th round game and loads of press coverage.

And to be honest we dont need a fixture pile up or any players getting Injured.
Imagine if Grimes or Sakamoto etc gets a bad injury in the 3rd round of the cup

Fuck that!

When the game starts, I'll want us to win, because I always do, but this year I don't want us to give it full attention.

Fringe players regardless of who we draw, please.

Usually love it, but this season? Get us out of the thing asap. We don't want any distractions.

Focus on the prize.
