Sit down with a nice cup of tea and think about it for a minute: they haven't bothered doing this kind of advertising ever before, gates are much lower than Fisher expected, now they have paid for an advert. Why did they do that? :thinking about: Could it maybe possibly be because they are desperate? Uh-huh!!!!!!!!

Well we've only had one game so hardly enough of a sample size to be statistically accurate about any trends. But I would have thought that given the numbers at the first match Tim has good reason to be worried, but not sure about desperate - yet. If they can't attract a sizeable number of 'Home' fans to the Colchester game (third home match which Tim seemed so interested in) then you might see some desperation.

I'm saying they knew where they were going to play they had no intention of playing at the Ricoh so YES they could have sold the tickets from anywhere we were told at the forum that they would have a shop within 3 weeks they took months to secure a room in an office block that no one can find that was their decision,

How? They weren't allowed to do this because they weren't authorised by the Football League!

I see Microsoft are advertising on the Telly they must be desperate!

Advertising costs money, you do it when you need to for a good reason-- Sisu's reason is they are desperate to avoid further embarrassment and bad publicity at Sixfields. It really isnt that difficult even for you boys who wont ever say a word against Sisu.

I disagree.

If they were desperate you'd see the ticketing manager in West Orchards trying to flog them!

That's your opinion I believe your wrong.

Tell me one company that doesn't advertise in some form?

Do I need to check with the years before I post?

That may yet happen. Probably more likely though in the first instance that they'd approach schools and try to fill Sixfields that way with either free or heavily discounted tickets. They need to show a fuller stadium to try and break the taboo factor in supporters minds of going to NTFC to watch us play.

Because you dont think Sisu getting home crowds of under 1000 had any bearing on this advert, right? It was gonna happen anyway?, like it does every year (except it doesnt).

SISU used advertisement when they were at the Ricoh so are you trying to say that advertising was oblivious to them? Yes this type of advertisement is quite unheard of since SISU took over, but you get the message out in every way possible.

How do you know it costs a fortune? Depends on a number of factors. Ads pre booked well in advance are expensive. However, if there is vacant spaces the telegraph team will ring companies and offer special deals. It could cost less than a £1,000.

In truth they should do a lot more awareness type marketing.

Missed a trick on game one as well. Knowing the scale of concern at moving if have offered every season ticket holder a free seat for the game (assuming league rules allow) and then tried to target cheap deals off it. Given the game was exciting it would have been worth it.

Pitiful response.

I am merely pointing out that the OP clearly ignorant regarding marketing strategy. The term distressful is not appropriate as this is a Tier Three campaign - i.e a campaign targeted towards the local media communicating an offer. This is no more distressful than BMW offering 0% finance or Mercedes Free Servicing as a local offer through targeted media. The aim is to create awareness, build market share etc.

The move to another part of the country invariable requires a change in media tactics. Very understandable. It also does not mean that the club is increasing marketing spend. It will have a marketing budget and it will spend in various ways that budget.

It is not distessful

Could of course be read that long term, the club sees itself as catering for a Coventry based audience

I am quite happy they are doing it. They are unlikely to return in any way shape or form on the investment, and the fact that they are doing it means they are missing the mood, and assuming that the vast majority of the fan base have spent the last 5 years in a vacuum (which of course we haven't). We all know that they are unlikely to get over 2000 Coventry fans ever there, and the reasons are not just football related but often logistical and financial and also because of the days the fixtures are being forced to take place on. No ad is going to change that.

They would probably get a better response from marketing in the local area of the club, which is of course Northampton. In no way shape or form can you compare us to a global brand, and any one who utters an opinion to the contrary is clearly confused and doesn't operate in the modern market.

Keep the ads coming I say.

If you are referring to me dear chap you have missed the point entirely. At tier 3 level BMW the communication message is not to purchase the global brand. The message is to purchase a product from the local franchise owner, for example Sytner in Coventry. The message of communication is aimed to not desire a BMW but to purchase from Sytner.

It seems sadly that its you who is a tad confused.

I could, of course, add significantly to the marketing department at CCFC. However, as I command a six figure salary, two company cars, substantial company paid pension contributions I think I may be a little out of their league.

I would disagree the stench from you is unbearable to anyone else but your good self. By the way as Ive said before Im pretty relaxed about Acl whether theyre here or not I just hate Sisu with a passion I hate Joy but my real hatred is directed at Mr Fisher and that is personal and I will do anything in my power that is lawfull to see this cancer out of my club. So I will protest to my hearts content safe in the knowledge that you by your own admission in your love for these monsters by constantly bringing up Acl have proved that I a am right.

Cov Mad has a photo of the ad. It's not quite as deceitful as suggested, it says 'Sixfields' quite prominently and also one of those QR code things for full directions and parking.

Because it's an advert that's meant to catch the eye I'd imagine, rather than a mound of small print. Anyone who was interested would look online for more specific details, I think it's fair to say most people have internet access if not whatever scans those codes.
