Some people on here pointed out that you can't sell your star players and expect to progress. They were shouted down by the 'Brentford model' and some such guff. Yes it can work if you replace them with other gems but this is so rare as to be wishful thinking.
I know the arguments that they didn't want to stay etc but when we sold Gyokeres and Hamer we sold our crown jewels. We have to build a team of solid, dull players who can somehow fluke success or we have to find some more stars. Players like that don't come along very often and we couldn't get them to stay so we have to accept mediocrity.

Because it's the referee who decides how much extra time to be played, that's why he has a stopwatch on his wrist.

They can have a separate referee who manages the clock, and the referee could even overrule that separate referee.

Not sure why Bassette is in the “special player” category already

Work rate and effort are waayyy above Simms, he also has a bit of aggression and shithousery in him.

However he's only just turned 20, and only came to the UK this season, so we shouldn't have to be relying on him as a first choice striker, he's a player we should be developing, and using from the bench when required.

The fact that he's been first choice of late, just highlights how poor we've been in the final third.

I think it's all gone a bit Pete Tongue since our recruitment guy left for Blackpool and got replaced by Dean Austin. All if the recruitments made with The Vik and Hamer money have been down to Austin. And who found Vik and Hamer in the first place?

The problem wasn't the stars leaving, (that's always going to happen) the issue is replacing them with too many league 1 standard players, and youngsters.

Dovin and Bassette may well go on to be stars, but both are very inexperienced and raw to stand out at this level at the moment.

Not replacing Collins and Wilson is an issue.
Dasilva was never the answer.
Having no cover for MvE was an issue.
Not moving Tavares on cost us a place in the squad.
Kitching, Binks and EMC have failed to impress as well.
Not replacing experienced players like Fadz, and Kelly has left us short of leaders.

And we've been tactically poor this season and not utilised subs effectively (that should improve under FL)

All the above needs to be addressed before next season.

Yes, but I don’t see anything special about that.

The one thing he does do well - maybe better than any player - is be extremely conspicuous about working hard. Plays to the fans more than anyone I’ve ever seen.

Disagree on the NBA, every second count and even recently I went to a match where one team took the lead with 11 seconds on the clock and the other team won it with 6.6 seconds left.

I think it’s more the fact that the end of NBA games become an exercise in clock management to the extent it becomes a totally different game - tactical fouls, tactical stoppages/time-outs, whatever it takes to bleed out extra time. It’s all very uncouth and American!

I don't disagree, and hopefully Lampard will get time to work with him.
He has the raw talent to be a big star, but he also has a lot to learn.

It's a different situation with basketball. You can get posession and move up the court to score in seconds. It would be more similar to hockey. And the tactical fouls still stop the clock, whereas they don't with football. That's the whole point of having a clock that stops.

The time wasting had reached ridiculous levels , players pretending they have a head injury , or cramp or the opposition keeper going down with some alleged injury in the 85 min. I do have sympathy for the refs they always seem to be open to scrutiny but the players or managers hardly. I found the Oxford game exciting but most of the rest especially Shef Wed made me think what am I doing here . Simms had been on for barely 30 secs and the guy behind me shouting behind me how useless Simms was .

The way to solve this is to get ahead early in the game. No time wasting from the opposition then.

I’ve seen enough of Simms now that he just isn’t good enough. His touch is appalling and he doesn’t look arsed at all majority of the time. We have signed some utter tripe for obscene money past 18 months

You could be describing Haaland...

Like most out and out strikers, they're nothing without the goals.

At present we've gone from an exciting brand of football to boring, last night was painful to watch sideways backwards and slowly forwards. Frank has got a real job on his hands to change this.

When was the exciting brand of football?

Amazing as the success under MR was, he was a conservative manager by default. I'd love to see the percentage of his games that were 0-0 at HT!

I’d like to see the rules change to allow teams to play on and to stop the clock for head injuries. Do away with stoppage time and when the ball goes dead after 90m, the game ends.

I’d like to see the rules changed so that any player going down with a head injury would have their head removed and set on a spike in the car park. They'd soon stop faking injuries.

I agree, he was very much okay. Keep it tight until halftime kind of manager, but the second halves were brilliant.

and don’t forget ‘Robins time’. We scored so many times in injury time and of course that’s the bit that sent us home happy.

Honestly if you didn’t enjoy the last seven years maybe football isn’t for you.

In most sports, the decisive moments in matches is the last ‘quarter’ because that’s when people get tired and mistakes happen.

The most exciting brand of football to me is winning football. It’s nice having 60-70% on target and 2-3 xG but if we don’t win, I’m not as happy as a dross 1-0 win.
