Look at the stats on goals scored and assists and tell me what that says about Lameries and Murphy - or don't stats count either?

Fleck has less goals and less assists than Murphy. Is Murphy a better player than Fleck?

Murphy is a forward you cretin. You said yes had two good games so how can he be the second top goal scorer and have the assists he has?

Surely Lamaries would outdo him on both measures as he also is a wide midfielder?

Murphy is a midfielder. Lameiras is a midfielder. Fleck is a midfielder.

Maybe he will, but today's game he created nothing and gave it away but stood there. Lamieries did give it away but at least battled to get it back and did put a few tackles in and did create a couple of chances.

Lameiras started the disaster leading to the first goal

So Murphy has a dip in form the last couple of games and he's suddenly 'lazy' 'shit' and 'innefective'. Anyone criticising him have a quick look at his goal and assist stats this season and see his ability to create something from nothing. He's still at a premier league club for a reason, whereas Lameiras is weak, slow and only contributes when things are going well

Yep. Lost possession. Loses possession a lot. I thought we'd seen the back of him. I suspect we have now.

Murphy is Jekyll and Hyde, he will look poor for a period of the match and then play like Messi for a 15-20 minutes. Unreliable in the big matches, destroyed Gillingham but was awful v Walsall and Burton.

Was poor today but don't like that he's the new boo boy. Been excellent at times this season, but when we're going forward in waves. Balance of the team just looked wrong today which didn't help him, nor did how Burton set up.

I didn't think Burton were that good, but well organised and stuck to the game plan. As for JM I get it that he wasn't good going forward, but berating a young wide pacey player for not tackling back and getting stuck in, as some were around me, was too much.

I have only seen Murphy play at home but everytime i have seen him i would have taken him off before he has his 15 minute spell... i guess TM leaves him on in the hope that every game he gets his 15 minutes... I like Lameiras mainly because he is one of our own and yes he gives the ball away but he usually gives a lot of effort and some of his thro' balls are sublime but we all have our opinions

No one said he will. It's a little obvious you have it in for Lameiras. Wind it in a little.

I like Murphy, but I think to be a promotion side you need to have winners in your team and I'm not sure Murphy is a winner.

I am talking about will to win and determination and desire and fight.

When Murphy is good he's great, but when he's not it's almost like we are playing with 10 men.

I would be more inclined to have Murphy as an impact player off the bench. Too many times he has been a let down.

Not slating him here and making him a scapegoat, I am just saying we need to use him sensibly. Unlike Armstrong, Ricketts, Fleck Vincelot and Stokes, I just don't see him as one of the rubber stamped names for the team sheet every week.

Look at Murphy's previous loans, the most he's played is 11 games. He's already played 24 here. He's only ever been used as a short term solution, not as a full season solution.

Sorry to repeat some of what I posted on another thread...but Murphy offered no movement off the ball in the first half. Stokes gave the ball away at least three times as he had to try and thread difficult balls to Murphy's feet because he gave no movement.

He fought more after half time but didn't have the beating of anyone. He seems to lack strength on the ball but is only 18.

What worries me more is he increasingly looks like a one trick pony. Get one on one push it into space and use pace. Because he can't dribble and is very one footed. Put a midfielder and a defender in front of him to beat and he seems void of confidence and ideas.

Time for the young lad to have a couple of games out I think. Hopefully the arrival of Hunt will give us that option.

So you'd rather leave poor players on the pitch then?

Lameries was poor. Jacob Murphy player better than him.

He's at the stage now where he really needs to kick on his career.

Exactly, Murphy needs to add consistency and decide how badly he wants it and how hard he wants to work for it. When things aren't going his way he seems to retreat into his shell and half the time he doesn't look interested and imo he bottles a lot of challenges, he has talent and when he's on fire he's destroyed teams but if he doesn't buck his ideas up he could well find himself being let go from a premier league club and permanently at a league 1 club like Lameiras.

He needs to be dropped to get a kick up the Arsenal and fight for a place in the team. He takes it for granted he is starting.

The problem is, he wouldn't be dropped he'd be 'rested' as part of the continued rotation of those front 3, he'd know he was only missing 1 game and will be back in the side straight away:

Seems to me, when Murphy plays well, so do the whole forward line. This shows how crucial he is, despite his multitude of form lapses.

So are you denying that Murphy has had a rather awful two games? I'd tend to agree that we need another pace option as it seems he gets in the team almost by default at time. I'm not for one minute suggesting he's a bad player, merely that he may feel a slight comfort in the fact that he is the only attacking midfielder that provides pace.

Or can Murphy only play well when the other forward players play well?

Cause and effect

Have to agree with this, Murphy is shite, lazy, scared to tackle and defend and doesn't even look all that fast. I would play JOB or Cole in front of him all day long

To use Strachan's line. .he goes from world beater to carpet beater from one game to another, very frustrating.

In defence of Murphy, it's more a case of he can't tackle and he can't really defend, rather than being scared too.

His strength is in going forwards. As long as he's able to do that to good effect, then we can excuse him for the things he can't do.

When he doesn't do what he we know he can do, that's when it looks like his whole game is crap, as the inadequacies are highlighted more.

Yep, you'd expect a player in the third division to be a world beater every week wouldn't you.

Oh, perhaps if he was a world beater every week, he wouldn't be playing in the third division.

Sometimes when read what morons our fans are I wish I wasn't a fan...until I remember that all other teams have them too still let's try and ruin him because it's easy and what we're used to.

I think we're all more interested in him becoming a better footballer rather than ruining him, to do that you need to acknowledge what areas need to improve.
