Personally think this guy is a problem one of the worst keepers I've saw for us and seems just just be constantly having a go at players.

Another thread on Murphy, I've not actually seen a good opposition goalie this season, Murphy looks much more capable then them would much rather have some more pace in the squad then replace a goalkeeper who is clearly capable at this level.

Bore off. Murhpy has gained us more points than he has lost us. That means, in my opinion, he is doing ok.

Did you go to the game Saturday? If so who was better Murphy or their guy?

I'm really sorry, but I fail to see this "he has a go at the players too much" argument. We let in too many goals, which a lot of people have put down to some of the defenders that have been playing, yes? So, it makes sense that he shouts at them a bit. If they're too sensitive for that then they shouldn't be a defender. Also, Peter Schmeichel who, in my opinion, is the best goalkeeper of all time, used to rip defenders heads off for the slightest thing. It never did him any harm!

Jesus Christ when will these Murphy threads stop, he is a decent keeper and has also been promoted twice from this division with Scunny. He has saved us so many times this season already and could do nothing with either goal on Saturday. Players such as Clarke are the problem, no fight, overrated ability and pathetically weak.

Murphy has pulled off a dozen or so brilliant saves so this season, if he was shite most of them would have gone in and we'd be a lot worse position then we are now.

It did make me laugh on the phone in, when they read out a text saying something like "Murphy has to go, you could see he was in a bad mood before the game kicked off and he just spent the game shouting at players, he has a bad attitude"...

No one can blame Murphy for Saturday. If I was looking for a goat to scape (and I'm not) otherwise would be Richard Wood.

You must have missed the Jordan 'Scapegoat' Clarke thread!

At one point Zoko tried to take Clarke on down the wing, Clarke stayed strong, got goal-side of him and shepherded the ball out for a goal kick. Murphy came out of his goal, shouted Clarke's name, and then applauded him when he looked over.

But it obviously wasn't Murphy in goal because he only ever criticises his players.

Can anyone think of a League Goalkeeper they woul rather have than Murphy? I can't. He is better than all I've seen so far. It's the one position that cannot be faulted.

As for this shouting at defenders crap did anyone ever see the likes of Shilton and Scmeichal play?

I'm surprised no one has had a go at Moussa for his last 3 terrible home games! (Apparently good v Swindon)

I am a GK.

If one of my defenders makes a mistake or is in the wrong position should I say unlucky, nice try, or should I let them know what I think? Should I have a whisper in their ear, talk to them when they won't hear me properly or should I shout? At the same time I praise good play. Just as my team mates let me know if I have come out for a ball I can't make, stay on my line when I should have come out for a ball or give me a pat on the back for a good save.

It is all about being part of a team. The player that can see the game the best is the GK. A quiet GK don't help the team. He should be organising the defence. The most frequent thing I shout when playing for a new team is where I want my defenders, picking out attackers not being marked and also telling my players to push forward when I have the ball. Being a GK is not just about stopping the ball from going into your own goal.

generally a fan of murphy - but he was at fault for the 1st on saturday

a 35yd daisy cutter, not even in the corner - sorry that should have been an easy pick up
he took a step to the left and then too long to react

however at the moment he cannot have confidence in his defence who were very indecisive

so overall he is a 6 out of 10

The only thing that worries me about him is when a shot comes in from the edge of the box he likes to parry it sometimes in front of him so anybody following up on the 6 yard line can just tap it in

I think Murphy is good - he's better than most at this level and he gets too much criticism. Murphy/keeper position is the least of our worries...

Good shot stopper, but makes very silly errors. And poor at set pieces. So 1 outta 3 aint bad

Why does everyone hate Murphy? He's the only players who's actually doing something about the crisis at City. Did you see Sheffers or Wood stand up and make a stand? No, you didnt. He should be our captain tbh. He's the only one who uses his damn voice in the match. He's made some cracking saves too. He's saved our arses more than once this season. All you haters should back off and give him a chance. Would you rather have David James in goal? Or Peter Enckleman? Just be thankful we have a goalkeeper who cares about the club and its fans, who tells the players what he wants rather than just let them run around like headless chickens and who knows what he's doing.

Have to agree with the majority here. Anybody who thinks Murphy is the problem is being very short sighted.

As for him being the worst keeper we've seen here, please remember that we're in the worst league position for bloody ages too, so having inferior players compared to the recent past is expected. We're not going to have an Oggy, Hedman, Kirkland, Westwood playing for us.

Also, Fabien Debec.
