If you lose 3-0 it is not the strikers fault, you shouldn't have to score 4 goals to win a game.

You surely can't be blaming any of those goals on Murphy though, right?

Haven't seen the article, I'll read it now

Didn't have any decent saves to make, but headers off the line don't count?

Nah, sounds like just an observation to me. He has more of a go about the defending.

Definitely not a dig, just the truth - yes we had one cleared off the line but the keeper didn't have a save to make.

Read a blog on a town website ,they seemed to think we posed them serious defensive problems 2nd half,so that clearance off the line was agame changer maybe we're a tad over critical ,but your never gonna win turning up for 45mins

We did cause them problems in the second half but to be honest they could have been 4 up at half time.

we were the better team in the second half. Not the first though, unfortunately.

Yeah, I know!! By the same bloody defender in fact!! Shows he had better positional sense than his keeper. Damn him!

Stu, it was O'Donovan who had the other 2, in the same move. Although first header was weak.

I haven't read the article (I am aware this makes me sound like a Daily Mail reader, annoyed on default), but surely saying that their 'keeper didn't have a save to make is just a statement of fact (one short utterance in a whole interview for someone who plays in a specialised position within a team), not a pop at our strikers? I suppose it depends on the context. Murphy is not Westwood, but is a decent enough Championship 'keeper, proved over several seasons.

Any danger we can find another scapegoat, how about we have a pop at McDonald if he doesn't score on the weekend..? There is a hint of sarcasm there, in case it was too subtle. I know football fans are fickle, I know we are long suffering, but we still need to look to be objective. I was not a fan of Julian Gray. If he played well, I would applaud. I wouldn't block it out to suit the opinions I had formed, I wouldn't watch performances waiting (almost itching) for him to fail to strengthen my own stance. He played for the team I support, end of story. This idea of 'Murphy out, Dunn in' doesn't carry a huge amount more weight for me than the one I saw the other day 'Cranie out, Cameron in'. Opinions are just that, but at least the defenders have had more than seven and a half games for us to form our opinions.

Oh yeah, his header was that weak I'd completely forgotten about it.

wheres that come fromDivedive, cant't see anywhere in the thread one suggestion of murphy out, just a simple question posed out of an interview ,the point is in nuances of the choice of words ,he could have said ,"we created a few chances, unfortunately they never went in ",rather than their goalie never had to make a save.

The comment on page one about conceding three goals being anything but the strikers fault provoked the question 'you're surely not blaming Murphy' (so I might not be alone on inferring a tone) and the comment a couple later that 'Murphy couldn't catch a cold'. Didn't mean to cast accusations, just how I read it.

As far as the second half goes, it reminds me a bit of something Strachan said (all too often)-that starting to play when you're 2 goals down is a lot easier because the opposition have done the hard work-they sit back and invite pressure, looking for the sucker third on the counter.

Although wit that he was, Strachan usually just spouted something about performing only when behind being "cowardly".
