Shame to see him retire but better to be on the safe side.

Surely he would have some insurance to keep him for life now?

I didn't think he'd play again. Too risky.

He'll have a job at Bolton for life too, some sort of ambassadorial role. Way too risky to play again after what happened, got a second chance so there's no point in pushing your luck too much!

It says in the paper that he is going to get a multi million pound insurance payout. I know he has been through a lot, but how lucky to retire at 24 years and not have to worry about money again. If he makes a full recovery so he can lead a normal life then he is a very lucky boy indeed.

He's still having the ICD to restart his heart fitted. There was talk of him playing on with the ICD, as there is a guy in Belgium called Anthony Van Loo who plays with one. He basically has a heart attack and falls to the floor, then the device kicks in and he gets back up again and carries on playing.

A bit too morbid for me, though.

Good luck to him and I hope he has no complications in later life.
