Armstrong had played Premier League football umpteen times for Newcastle before he joined us and Murphy had Championship, League 1 and League 2 loans before he come to us

If anything the squad was stronger in the second half of the season as Maddison returned from an injury that kept him out pretty much all of the first half of the season

He blew it in a season Burton Albion playing turgid shite football got promoted, simple

Armstrong had had a couple of games here and there, mainly in second string cup comps. He played under 20 games in total for them, scoring not once.

Maddison was shite second half of season. Didn’t want to be there. Murphy had played no more than 20 games a season before joining.

This was the squad for game away at Peterborough ffs, the game where Henderson fell over one on one.

Yeah but where is lamieras, the largest symptom of the Cole appointment?

Good player on his day. But also inconsistent and went missing when the going got tough. Ended up being relegated to league two again with Plymouth.

Speaking to mates up here who support Sunderland, apparently it's more of a fall out than it is about results.

He was told that he needs to start the young players over the likes of Dack, but expected to achieve results with young kids who aren't ready to play week in week out. A lot going on behind the scenes be interesting to see who they appoint.

Hope the new manager starts all the young players not ready to play on the 23rd...

In all seriousness it is utterly ridiculous when management tell the manager what to do. Especially sacking Mowbray for not starting young players when his track record for developing talent & giving young players game time is very good.

With all these sacking's Kenny Jackett must have a good chance of getting another job in football.

If I was in charge at Sunderland I’d be holding off until Steve Cooper is inevitably sacked this week.

Very smart move from the board given that we are approaching the post-christmas Mogga special.

Watch them get promoted now.

To be fair to mogga , nobody ever seems to mention the amount of defensive injuries we had that season either .. really crippled us at times

That’s a fair point. Ben Turner came in on loan aswell on that basis didnt he and then also got injured?
Mind you, Mowbray got rid of Aaron Martin and pulled out all the stops to get Jordan Turnbull……..

There are a few players on there that I must have mentally blocked out due to the trauma.
