This was included in the BBC football transfer & gossip this morning

A legend as a player, not so much in the boardroom?

Former Bolton Wanderers striker Dean Holdsworth has resigned as a director of all group companies of the Championship club.

The 48-year-old's resignation comes nine days after his company Sports Shield BWFC Ltd
was liquidated.

Sports Shield, along with chairman Ken Anderson's Inner Circle Investments, took over the Trotters in March 2016.

A winding-up petition was lodged against Sports Shield by BluMarble Ltd in relation to an unpaid £5m loan.

The loan, which is thought to be closer to £7m because of accumulated interest, was secured against assets of the club.

If the charge is called in where does that leave Bolton Wanderers ?

Must admit to having a soft spot for Bolton and saw a few of their games when they got promoted to Div 1 in the late seventies.

Not sure about the implications for their immediate future but their financial problems originated in their Premier League days, spending beyond their means and racking up debts to their owner Eddie Davies of £170m. Some simìlarities with the Richardson years and the fallout for both clubs rumbles on and on.

Tells you a lot about the interest rate, assuming the loan was secured against some of the club's assets? £2m interest accumulated in 18 months!

Ex-Arsenal player, Julio Baptista on trial for Bolton. He hasn't played since last October for Orlando!

Perhaps he's their "Yakubu"
