Financial Fair Play will only completely work if it is adopted on a European basis and from the PL down. This may mean clubs in the football league have more of a chance of competing with eachother, but it also means the gulf between the PL and the FL will grow wider and wider.

With this in mind, really we should not be letting players such as mcpake go. He has one year and his contract and if his wages don't count in the FFP. He is part of our advantage over other clubs.

Is 100 k really worth losing him

:thinking about::thinking about:nice line in there to "gross sales of tickets and season tickets count towards it, so its really important people buy season tickets and get behind the club" .

Sounds as if he is just trying to guilt trip people into buying season tickets

More chance of me buying the Empire State building than a CCFC season ticket right now! SISU OUT, PUSB!

It just goes round and round..............even those fans who are waiting to buy or on the edge of deciding will be put off soon. I mean you wouldn't buy windows off a company whose imminent failure will invalidate your guarantee would you, all this uncertainty is creating even more apathy................unless of course SISU had long decided to just sell all possible then dump it as seems to be the case at the minute.

I haven't got a real problem with most of what he's said, besides that horrible line about buying season tickets, the majority of it seems based on fact. As mentioned though, what good is the threat of a new embargo whilst we're still in the current one!

How do the FFP rules work if we were to have a billionaire Chinese "investor" who is willing to lose a few £million in the first few years? Surely it could be dressed up as "turnover" somehow by capable accuntants?
I bet Chelsea, Man City et al will be ok.
I would be pleasantly surprised to see any meaningful sanctions imposed any time soon.

Don't remember the complete facts but if you do it in the Championship theres some kind of sliding scale where a fine of up to 10% would be levied and shared among the rest of the division ,No matter though if you've just reaped £90m. from a prem promotion :thinking about:

i knew it would be the fans fault at some point !!

Keogh, McPake, Craine etc all wouldnt count towards the 65%..

All the more reason to keep all 3, yet if we keep one i would be suprised !

This is just an absolute scare mongering tactic to try get the fans to buy more Season Tickets. He is basically saying, if we dont, then the club wont be able to buy more players so we wont compete, and on top of THAT we will be under an embargo again next season....until WE buy season tickets ....and so on...and so on....

The more this goes on, surely ANYONE still left defending SISU must start seeing that the club is on a ticking time bomb to doom with them in charge. May not be immediately, but we will certainly never see any success. And why? - BECAUSE THEY COULDNT CARE LESS ABOUT OUR BELOVED FOOTBALL CLUB.

Does anyone really know what is actually defined as "earned income/turnover" ??

As gate receipts are counted and club merchandise is not can it also be:

*catering (matchday concourse + other bars)
*car parking
*programmes etc

You give budgetary information to the League at the start of the season so they see how much is being spent as % of turnover-and this is checked regularly throughout the season. A rich investor could simply ensure all signings are made before the information is sent to the League, and by this point the embargo would be meaningless.

What would happen if the club simply charged its rich 'investor' £10m for a box each season?

Will these rules be enforced on clubs that get relagated from the premiership? I sincerely hope so

Clubs relegated from the PL are allowed some leeway to help them 'adjust'.

A bit like Brum's "Bang-bang-bang-embargo" strategy when shooting for the play-offs last year.

Don't worry Steve, more would do that......

Only if Sisu are no longer owners of the club that is!

If a billionaire investor wanted to ensure he could put a sizable amount into the team, could he not arrange for a considerable sized sponsorship from a "friend" which would, in turn, go towards turnover?

It seems to me that his message to the fans is: 'If we don't have a competitive squad next season, it's your fault for not buying season tickets'. Presumably, therefore, Sisu are blameless................

If that's true then its absolutely pathetic. It's bad enough now but with everybody in the championship forced to cut back then a relegated team come down and still splash the cash amounts to cheating, no other word for it.

Yes, all would count. However, we have away our profit share in the above (except programmes).

I think I begin to see the rationale in SISU letting the club go down now.

Clubs remaining in the Championship have acceptable deviations from budget in the millions
http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/FLExplainedDetail/0,,10794~2748246,00.html

So by getting relegated SISU have shaken out their salary overheads massively (they can point to FFP, no other club will be paying a lot more).
They don't have to compete with the overspenders in the Championship just to stay up.
They know can compete in League One, not only on costs but one mustn't underestimate the attraction of the stadium & club setup & therefore they'll attract reasonable crowds and get a reasonable turnover compared to the average of the division.
My cynical view is that this is a 3 to 5 year plan to stay put in League One, but usually get to the play offs then fail. After the championship restrictions are enforced in full from 2015/16 they'll get that promotion & try to kick on.

A club can have far more than 65% of its wages as projected turnover.
