'Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has said that he has more injury worries ahead of City’s trips to Watford on Saturday and Cardiff on Wednesday night.

Speaking to Sky Blue Player at the club’s weekly press conference at Ryton, Thorn said: "Bakes is obviously struggling as are Belly, Sheff and Cody. Gary McSheffrey has thigh problem and Cody McDonald has a groin problem.

"We brought Gael Bigirimana back in around it this morning, Cyrus has come up again, they're the future of the football and its important we look after them.

"Sunday night and Gael's award win was a fantastic evening for the club. A lot has been on his shoulders in a short space of time, it's well deserved for him."

If Bell and Sheff are injured we have no wide players at all!! Think we would have to go with wing backs wouldn't we?

Also, there was talk of Nimely being pushed wide, but if Cody is injured then Nimely has to play up front.

Doesn't look too bright does it.

We can either put Norwood and Nimeley out on the wings or push up Clarke and Christie to take the wing back positions like you say. Personally, I'd much prefer us take the latter option as full backs should adapt a lot better to that than a centre midfielder and a striker-drawback then becomes a dangerously exposed defence which is already leaking goals. Tough call for AT, but given our league position, and the failure of defensive away tactics this season, we should go with the more aggressive wing back option.

Just can't see how we can push Nimely out wide and leave Platt all alone up front.

1. He's not mobile or quick enough to play that lone role.

2. His game is all about knock downs and flick-ons. Who the hell is he going to be flicking it on to?

3. Platt very rarely looks a threat is not a goalscorer.

For me, with all those out, it would have to be wing backs.

Wing backs could be difficult without having hussey to give us a natural left foot outwide.

Agree.

What other options are there?

Hussey to me seems the ideal sort of player to play as a wing back. Christie too. But if we did go for wing backs and Hussey is not fit then the left side is going to be very difficult role indeed to fill.

The diamond? Sammy, Norwood, Deegs and one of Thomas and bigi?

Again without hussey (or even wood) the left side will be a bit lobsided if cranie is left back.

Yep, got to be the diamond.

Moving away from a back 4 to wing backs is very disruptive.

Murphy

Christie, Keogh, Cameron, Crainie

Clingan
Norwood, Deegan
Bell

Nimely, Platt

We've all got our crosses to bare. Will we be saying the same thing in league 1? Look other teams face similar problems with injuries and small squads but what we have are players that have all performed this season in this team who are not injured and available. They are not 'fringe' players. Bigi as one example. So no real excuse. The team mentioned above is not so bad. A good coach will get what he needs out of them. It's Watford, mid-table not bloody Man Utd away! If we can't produce something then we deserve to go down. The negativity coming from Thorn is not conducive to a winning attitude. Much better if he said "yeah we got injuries but I've got good players chomping at the bit like Bigi and co and waiting for their chance so we'll be ready on the day" bla bla bla. Managing, coaching, team building is not rocket science but evidently it is to some.

Exactly !!!

I get a feeling this might pop up again come saturday afternoon.

We havent produced anything in the past 10 games, and are showing no signs of producing anything

our strike force has 5 goals between them all season

and with mcsheff out, where on earth are we going to add to the 7 we have scored away from home all season ?

I'm sure if we lose we will have some people telling us how good a team Watford are.

Only trouble with that is that you have Bell in and the premise here is that he's injured.

For sure - and they weren't odds on favourites to go down at the start of the season. Which they weren't they were joint odds with us through William Hill and there were other teams considered worse according to the bookies;

Barnsley, Doncaster, Peterborough and Crystal Palace.

If all of them are out (and they won't be) is go for:

Murphy
Christie Keogh Cameron Cranie
Thomas
Deegan Bigi
Norwood
Nimley Platt

More plausible than people claiming this squad should be higher in the table.

A squad finishes 17th to 21st consistently, then has it's best players removed and replaced with children and STILL people can't fathom why we're struggling.

Not rocket science.

"has it's best players removed and replaced with children and STILL people can't fathom why we're struggling".

Simply not true. How many times have we spun this one? Turner had not played for almost a year, Gunna was poor at best (had been for 2 seasons) and in and out the side. King was poor in the run in when we had that 'famous' 10 game run of success. He was injured and suspended twice for 3 games.
Now only Westwood could honestly make the argument but frankly he had his moments.
The core of the side has hardly changed in reality and in fact we have gained a very good CB in Keogh so things always turn one way or the other but overall it's the same squad strength we had available back then during that 'good' run.
