Pointed it out a couple of months ago.

Why are we getting so many injuries? Are the medical team not advising properly or something?

It’s probably that players are playing every game. We have less squad depth and players who are never going to play so there’s always more chance of injuries

It’s a mixture of small squad and flogging the same individuals 90 mins time and time again
My fear is it’s only a matter of time for Hamer and yok

Well yeah, that's because of injuries though isn't it?

I was thinking a week or so ago that as durable and full of energy as he seems that Allen could do with a rest.

I'm sure Maguire was brought in to lighten the load on Allen and Palmer, but seems he's not good enough and now we've paid the price with both of them injured.

The Maguire signing looks like it was made out of desperation rather than anything else now

Allen potentially going to be a similar timeframe as Fadz was depending on the extent of the tear but without the benefit of it being during the world cup break.

Palmer sounds like it's going to be at least a month, even without robins putting a timeframe on it.

Although he seems pretty irked by the sports science/medical team with his comments about it all being guess work about how much he can use players rather than it being objective.

Oh well, bring on Saturday. 3 up top it is.

Since we signed Maguire Allen and Palmer have been in good form and then Eccles has come back from injury, with Allen & Palmer being out might now open the door for Maguire.

if Robins had any intention, he would have brought him on in the 2nd half yesterday -

We have enough cash for about 18 first team players and every team gets 4/5 injuries so when they happen the rest get flogged until they get injured and the injuries are rushed back to quickly because we need them. Rinse repeat.

He’s ignoring their guidance and it’s not an exact science

There's only one thing that will open the door for Maguire, and that's impressing Robins in training.

Why ? His substitutions worked, he was making sure we kept the clean sheet and we did, I think had we been a goal down he might have used his subs differently.

It's not an exact science, but this season seems to have been particularly bad for muscle related injuries, which are much easier to avoid/manage.

I'd be surprised if they are saying before games 'x has a high risk of injury if you play them tomorrow' and Robins is just ignoring that unless you know something?

Came off as a precaution but has been saying it’s sore which apparently usually means a muscle tear and a period out.

I appreciate that we’re expecting a lot of the players but I’m sure plenty of other clubs are the same. Players also had a winter break this year yet we seem to be dropping like flies.

Someone listed some of the stupid/unlucky key injuries we’ve also picked up this season, I’m guessing that’s then put pressure on others. Just one of those seasons although I would hope that we’re having a proper look at the medical/training side of things

Robins has pretty much said he has ability but he's not showing him enough to get game time

Even so, I’d have thought he would have been involved a fair bit more if he’s good enough.

Overheard a co-coms who said we train with very high intensity and Robins has always done so.

If you look at Robins 6 year current tenure it’s not been littered with loads of players out with injury-yes of course we’ve had players out but it’s hardly a ‘thing’.

Teams get injuries, football’s a contact sport-obviously what we don’t need and what we don’t get to hear about are players who are playing with a known-to-management injury (& asked to play on regardless), hiding a niggly injury (but not telling management) or who are tired.

One thing we can lay at Robins door and that definitely does have an impact on injuries, is that he rarely makes subs of players who clearly look tired during a game.

Cannot underestimate this management of substitutes for keeping players injury free (even though this is a footballers job!).

All teams get injuries, not every club in the championship is blessed with big squads. 12 games to go, this is when some under 23 lads are gonna get their chance, they either step up or clearly this level ain’t for them. Robins is no fool, we need strengthening in the summer. But don’t right us off yet.
We’re 4 points off the play offs in March, after a shocking start.
We go again on Saturday.

Was on the bench last night but not used despite the reorganisation around his natural position.

Midfield injuries in last two games to Palmer and Allen have seen the introduction of an on loan left wing back to play out of position rather than him.

If he wasn’t used last night - against his former club - when Wilson-Esbrand, Walker and Burroughs were brought on ahead of him (and Kelly and Sheaf unavailable through injury) it simply isn’t going to happen. He’s just taking up a space on the team bus.

Well, if Maguire isn’t showing enough to fill the gap, it looks like Kelly is in.

Either that, or take a gamble and give someone like Marco Rus a shot, which stubborn-face Robins isn’t likely to do.

Who else can fill Allen’s role? My mind has gone blank, more so than usual. lol

Oh Kelly is injured again? Had no idea!

Well, that’s another option down the swanney. Don’t know whether to be relieved or concerned now, to be honest.

If you play more games there’s a greater risk of injury and a greater risk of wear and tear

Haven’t Sunderland got about 7 injuries at the moment?

He brought Doyle off Saturday and last night due to tiredness - not sure what point you're making about subs tbh?

Like Palmer at the weekend?

It's not exactly a new thing to see players who are injured on the pitch. See Dabo against Derby.

Robins isn't a doctor, the player himself will have wanted to see if he could continue
