What's the deal with Monkeypox?

From the brief reading I've done:

It's been around years
It spreads through close prolonged contact as one of the symptoms is skin lesions
There was a possible superspreader event in Gran Canaria (gay pride)
It doesn't seem like anything to be majorly worried about unlike COVID

The medical experts who warned of the dangers of Covid are saying monkeypox is nowhere near on the same level and not something to be particularly concerned about.

I think the vaccine for smallpox works on it as well. Doesn’t look particularly nice though

Yup. And you have to have very close contact, so sitting in an unventilated room with somebody who has it is not the same issue.

All-in-all, not a concern... although will be interesting to see how government reacts ref: vaccine, as ideally you don't really want it in the country and circulating if you can avoid it.

My wife told me said she had monkey pox , I was skeptical at first . but then I saw her face and now I’m a believer
