Did you expect us to be playing them off the pitch with 10 men?

We weren't great until the sending off but after that we defended well and restricted them to very few chances.

We caused problems for them on the break and had the better chances second half.

If a one of game in the Caraboa is the barometer we'll win loads given how many other championship clubs didn't win today

He's not a RB or RWB, he's taking one for the team playing there so harsh to be too critical. If we see him on the right side of a back 3 I think he'll do much better.

But where is his best position?

Centre back, always has been.
He's been asked to do a job which he's not particularly comfortable with but still considered the best option currently. The criticism he's getting is harsh considering this.

Not sure if fans look at the whole picture, we had ten men for an hour so players had to adjust those marking Shipley down for example look at the role he played in that hour he was turning up everywhere breaking up the MKD midfield same with Hamer both 8 out of 10 for me.

For a period of about ten minutes Shipley was the most creative Mk Dons player on the pitch. And I say that as a big Shipley fan. He had a mare.

One of our own. Can't be marked lower than 7. Thems the rules

How come his highest mark on this thread is a 5 then?

He clearly didn't play well which appears to be recognised by nearly everyone, The difference is whether you accept the mitigating circumstances concerning the position he was playing and the extra tiredness brought on by covering for an extra player. That in turn probably depends on whichever biased view you have. If you rate him you will accept his off day, if you don't you will see it as typical.

Both views are commonly held on this board just as with players like McSheffrey, Baker and Doyle before him, who also divided opinion.

was talking Sheaf, Hamer, Kelly. Effectively you could allow Hamer to take the Allen Role today and Sheaf to take Shipley’s role

Not going to rate anyone as only listened to game on ifollow and saw extended highlights But a couple of observations -
1- Giles and OHare seem to have developed a decent understanding already down the left
2- based on the commentary and the match thread on here I was expecting there to be a dozen MK Dons chances but we clearly restricted to them to 2 or 3 only plus an error or two between Marosi & defence.
I’m very optimistic for the season.

Surprised to see McFadzean quite rated so highly. Yes we kept a clean sheet with 10 and a defender missing but that was down to their awful strikers as much as our defending. He looked very slow in both feet and mind a few times. He did win a lot of key headers, apart from that one in the first minute he didn't even jump for where they should have scored. I don't fancy him at all against any Championship striker with a bit of pace.

Pask was the one covering two positions and so was often isolated against 1 or 2 players. Marosi's distribution off the floor was atrocious. Quite how we kept a clean sheet is a mystery, so I don't quite agree with Robins' assessment about the defence being "outstanding". Even before the red we looked shaky and it was not a good performance at all. But these early season games you get players looking off the pace and just need to get the results.

O'Hare was the best player on the field by a distance, he was two steps ahead of everyone else. Shipley was poor in the second half in particular. You can excuse tiredness to a degree but just passing it to opposition players in dangerous areas 2 or 3 times is ridiculous.

I liked the subs.

Marosi 6
Pask 6
Drysdale 5
McFadzean 7
Hyam 6
Giles 7
Hamer 7
Shipley 5
Allen 6
O'Hare 8
Godden 6

Kelly 7
Walker 7
Bakayoko 7

We were slow and rusty for sure. I saw the game plan, let them have possession then break and it nearly worked a few times. Job done, unbelievable fitness for our team. Players that lasted 90 will be up to speed now after that.

Positives and negatives. Marosi on the deck was shocking though

playing with 10 men for 70 minutes can be a leveller even in the premiership?

The 6s for Marosi are a joke. Yes he nearly gave a goal away with his poor distribution, but along with Walker won us the game this these beauties.

6 is above average, I think his performance was just above average... He read the penalty but the penalty was poor, the first save straight down at his feet and I didn't see any beauties there tbh... I love marko, but he wasn't great yesterday.. Made 3 poor errors which could have lead to goals

That first save was very, very good and a penalty save warrants a 7 or an 8 comfortably. Wasn’t a great pen, but he still guessed the right way!

The distribution was uncharacteristically poor, but it didn’t result in a goal, so the 6s is very harsh.

Defence was very shaky 1st half, a bang on form Championship side could of stuck 3 or 4 past us. We did improve 2nd half and Baka, Kelly and Walker gave us a threat. I am worried about the ball playing around our 6 yard box McFadz and Hyam don’t always look comfortable doing that, and a better opposition will punish errors. MK dominated the ball for large periods which is a concern too. Hopefully Kelly, Sheaf, Dabo, Rose etc can help the above.

Most posters here agree with me. Clearly on the defensive because you got called out for being clueless.

Drysdale, loads of 1 to 4 scores but on the after match thread most people said the sending off was not deserved. So if the sending off was not deserved then is the low score just?
Can't afford to pay for ifollow as broke as fuck, so i can't judge, but i do think people have been harsh on him.
