Was very impressed tonight we looked very sharp. Didn't know much about jack grimmer before but he looked very good tonight, will be a brilliant addition! Also Kelly and Doyle partnership was good. That lad from Sutton looked good up top. All in all good performance ! 2nd penalty never a penalty in a million years though !! Haha

How did ponti do? sounds like his movement was good its something we have been missing energetic hungry striker pull defenses all over the place.

Grimmer superb and motm. MK looked very poor and we dominated really. Doyle and Kelly were tidy in midfield. Can't say any of the starters played badly

Was really impressed with Grimmer, he won his fair share of headers and was good taking their full back on and putting a cross in. Great ball in the first half for Biamou when their keeper pulled off a good save.

Doyle and Kelly were constantly talking, well Kelly was shouting PRESSSSSSSSSSSSSS non stop which did seem to work.

McDonald was pretty solid at the back, smaller than I thought he was.

McNulty held the ball up well and took players on, when we won the 2nd pen I don't know where that pace came from as he looked rapid.

Biamou had a few decent touches and flick ons, decent control as well.

Devon Kelly Evans was putting some great tackles in for an attacker!

Hopefully people don't think it's so absurd now to say we have a team capable of challenging in league two

Got a good feeling about this squad, and this manager. How ace would it be to follow up Wembley last season, and a lot of kids first game (and a lot of people's first game in a long time) with a promotion or even title winning season?

Agard looked awful for them. I take it he was 9 who had a bit with Doyle?

Looking at it, that was pretty much their first choice back 4.

Lewington
Walsh
Williams
Ebanks-Landell

Vincenti didn't really stand out, I can't remember seeing him before but he looked injured (unless that's him usually).

Then he put K Thomas on, who looked pretty much the same.

McNulty reminds me a bit of Armstrong, more the body language and the way he closes defenders down and the runs he makes.

I bet Armstrong has lost a bit of pace since being in Love Island.

Yeah, I had same impression of Vincenti at Barnsley but apparently had stood out earlier in preseason. Maybe just a bit of preseason fatigue and getting up to full fitness.

Overall very pleased to see a performance like that. Pre season or not, we were the better team throughout! Let's hope it's not just a one off that I get to say that

All new signings impressed. Grimmer looks a player! Biamou holds it up well and gets about a lot. McNulty tonight looked twice the player he did in Spain when he didn't really stand out but he chased everything down tonight and took the pens well, although the second the keeper will be unhappy with.
Vincenti although didn't seem to be as involved I think will still be an asset. Couple of good headers he won out wide and few passes played in front of the strikers.
Maintain Obrien offers us a more solid backline (but acknowledge Burge has improved since last pre season). McDonald solid. What a unit he is! Doyle and Kelly covered each other well. Doyle involved in the scuffle so can clearly still wind up an opponent or two! Have I missed any new signing??
Devon looked very good today. Like his brother he isn't afraid to put a boot in. Caught out a couple of times defensively but out of the two twins I think he's more attack minded so that's to be expected.

The Doyle stuff was decent, he left his leg in in the first instance on their 9 and he didn't like it. Then their 9 came back giving it some and everybody piled in.

What I don't get is what they do in the middle of scuffles like that as they aren't throwing punches. Everybody is crowded in but it isn't actually a fight, it's more like "hold me back" type stuff.

Still, it is actually nice to see. If that was last season on somebody like Gadzhev I think everybody would have stood there shitting themselves.

First time I had seen Ponticelli play, he made some good runs but not sure if he has lost a yard of pace or fitness as he didn't look the quickest from the line but then when he built up speed he got there.

Kyle Finn reminded me of Lamieras.

If we can build up partnerships with Willis / McDonald and Kelly / Doyle we will do quite well. I can only think of them having one shot that troubled us which their 9 missed and the soft shot into our keepers legs.

Yes an enjoyable game tonight, we looked up for it passed the ball about very wellI liked all the new starters Vicente seemed a little out of it but as said earlier he won a few flick ons and passed it forward well, my only criticism tonight is that although we had 2 pens and Biamous header we didn't trouble their keeper too much but after all they are a championship team and we won so bring on Liverpool

All in all sounds like a decent performance and team spirit and togetherness there. We have lacked steel throughout team for a few seasons so I'm hoping we get some bite in all areas of the pitch.
Up front we have better options than last season but at the moment we are not scoring from open play but I think that will come.

So O'Brien or Burge?

How did we set up tonight, we still 4231? McNulty still in the 10, Vincenti right of the 3 tonight?

How's the keeper situation looking? I see O'Brien was given 60/70 mins did he show he can be no 1? Offer much more than Burge?

Central midfield sounds a lot stronger and physical this year and a few more commanding players in the squad who communicate throughout

Yes McNulty was just behind Biamou and worked his socks off. Vincenti was on the right with DKE on the left.

The keepers weren't really tested, O'Brien made a good save with his legs but no worldies. O'Brien was organising things from the back a lot more.

Seager straight into the fray....

Good stuff, sounds like the teams gonna be hard working side this year defending from the front and if you get through midfield will crunch you.
A hard working side with a physical edge for a change, looking forward to 2 weeks time now
