As things are a bit boring right now, here's #2 of the mini-quiz.

1. Which two teams played in the very first 'full' International match?

2. How many countries have won the Jules Rimet trophy?

3. Who was England's Manager when they re-joined FIFA in 1946?

4. After England had beaten Puskas' Hungary team 6-3 at Wembley, what was the score in the return match in Budapest?

5. In 1996 England changed their red 'away' strip to what?
Shirts:XXXXX
Shorts:YYYYY
Socks:ZZZZZ

Answers tomorrow, best of luck.

1. I'm guessing has to be England (the home of football) against a home nation which was either Wales, Ireland but most likely has to be Scotland.
2. Brazil, Argentina, Italy, West Germany, France, Spain, England.....that's 7 for me.
3. Really don't know
4. can't remember the score but know we got thrashed a second time.
5. All white maybe but think it may have been sky blue shirts?

I used to do pub quizzes (set the questions) and this was one of my favourites! I used to ask how many teams had won the World Cup and leave it at that. Those that mentioned the lot got it wrong as I used to point out about it being known as the Jules Rimet Cup! Cruel I know! Heh Heh!

Do you remember when there was a faction in FIFA that wanted it called the Sir Stanley Rous Cup? Glad they turned it down and went with the World Cup Trophy. They then went and called the Rous Cup for the winner of the Home Associations (Eng, Sco, Wal and N.I.). Never liked naming things after people like Rous or Rimet....don't know why.

Wish they'd bring back the Home Internationals (and also include Eire as "guests"!) I used to LOVE those tournaments! Why were they ever scrapped? They were SOOO popular!

I agree. It would give England the opportunity to win a game or two wouldn't it?
