Unless you were with said youngsters throughout...you have no idea of the reasons the police were starting on them...or whether it is justified. They may have been caught on CCTV pushing someone under a train 1/2hr before for all you know. Likewise they may have done something a bit cheeky & the police were over-stepping the mark. They are too easily identified as the baddies by people who don't like authority (until something bad happens to themself of course...then they criticise the authority for not doing enough)

Yes I was with him or near him all night. He is my lads best mate. They have done everything together. They grew up living 3 doors away from each other. His dad is my best mate. Both in the army. My lad was his best man. He never left the room other than for the toilet. They pushed past my wife to get to him. When I wanted to know why they pushed my wife and attacked him a little Hitler started pushing me in the chest to provoke me. I asked him why his number was covered. He tried to take me to the floor. Two women officers came over and grabbed him. He stopped then and left the room.

And no I didn't do anything wrong either.

I believe some Crewe fans had started on the young Cov fans, then the Police rallied round and formed a protective circle around the Crewe fans, then one copper took it upon himself to drag a Cov kid away and belt him with the baton. He was 17 but looked younger, clearly unable to defend himself against a fully grown man, never mind a fully grown man with a weapon.

Pulling a phone out in a situation isn't my style Dongo.

I'm not denying there's some fantastic police officers, but you're very naive if you think that there's always a reason why the police get heavy handed.
Consider yourself very lucky you've never ran into a copper looking for trouble.

I have never seen a murder so it doesn't happen. I haven't seen an armed robbery so they don't happen. Only people that want to serve the public become police officers. Only bad people who are guilty get arrested.

Sorry to disprove what you say but a PC starting pay is less than a junior doctors by several thousand pounds, and it was always 30 years to penion not 25. I know several mates who have been or were in the police and they certainly arent property millionaires, well done to your brother in law though, he obviously has a knack most people dont.

I will also add that the reason Police get such a pay off at Pensiion is that they pay 13% of their wages each month into it. Most average schemes take 6% each month from employees, and that is why the Police one is better.

As with any job there are some people that ruin it for others, its just a shame that for all the good work that many Police do, its ruined by a small percentage of tools whose misdemeanours fill pages of the Daily Mail.

He made a joke about me being a victim of police brutality when I was a teenager, I doubt he will get it

I'd appreciate that he was fulfilling his duties of employment but in my experience a fair few of them are less than desirable.

So who has said that they are all bad? Not one person. But it has been said that there is the occasional bad one to the few that seem to think that they are all perfect. But shall we all make stupid comments to make out occasional means all?

MP's help to run the country. Some committed fraud with the expenses. So under the way you work things out they all committed fraud. So now our country is run by nothing but people that out to defraud us.

I didn't miss anything. You said the opposite on your previous post. But you claim that someone that says some are bad...which they are......would then say that they are all bad.....which they are not. The vast majority are good at what they do and do an excellent job which isn't easy by anyone's standards. But those that say only the baddies get trouble from them need to wake up to the real world.

It's ridiculous. The police are humans. Most humans are good, a few are bad. Doesn't matter what walk of life you are in, there are always going to be some bad eggs, be it police, politicians, teachers etc.

Not really. If there are lots of Policemen around who just randomly attack normal members of the public doing absolutely nothing wrong. Trust me you would hear about it. There is a naiveness in this thread alright.
One that is born out of looking at a situation from a certain perspective and stories that change over time as they are repeated

There are bad police officers Don, no doubt about it.

I know we did nothing wrong at all in my take and they treated us very, very poorly. All we were doing was walking home and we got called liars and were verbally abused.

No on purpose to avoid complaints.
You keep going back in time. I am referring to the present and with social media and everyone's phone been a instant video recorder. You are highly unlikely to have a police officer giving someone a bit unless they did something to provoke it.

What am saying is stories in today's time of them entering a crowd and attacking a old man for no reason as justification for mobs attacking police officers won't be true.
With video cameras a bobby entering a crowd and attacking anyone for absolutely no reason will have list his job before he has made it back out the stand

A lot of things now are covered by CCTV, town centres, football grounds, around football grounds, pubs, shops etc and to take someones phone off them, they would have to have a good cause, or if not look foward to losing their job. The rise of things like smart phones makes people from many professions more accountable.

I have but it was in the 90's
When I was given the choice of getting hit with a baton by a line of police walking through the rows hitting anyone who didn't move
or
Go straight out the stand into a baying mob throwing bricks and glasses at the only exit.

Those same police doing the same thing today would be filmed and would be screwed, so they don't it was outrageous and they wouldn't get away with it.

I am sure they completely understood and were outraged at the treatment of the old man. Which caused them to want to get downstairs so quick and not the chance to kick and punch a police officer they have never met before and know nothing about

The reality is that we now have a self made underclass who know their rights and a police force that is under greater scrutiny than ever before.

You can imagine the abuse they are subjected to on a daily basis - verbal abuse. If they were allowed to crack a few skulls I doubt we'd be in a worse place.

At least don't have the military police like they do over in Italy; I saw the Carabinieri drive round looking for immigrants to beat up for no reason. I once got held at an airport just outside Venice for a few hours as they accused me of bringing undocumented cash into the country, there was literally no evidence whatsoever.

Luckily the police in the UK are now held to account a lot more.
