On the wing in front of DaSilva. That's the tiny option.

It’s not the wing, Lampards wide forwards play deeper and narrower. The full back or wide CM provide the width. More like a 4321

Dovin
MVE Thomas Kitching Binks
Torp Sheaf Eccles
Sakamoto Simms EMC

This 11 is what I’d play consistently until Jan (With Wright & Bidwell when fit, Rudoni pushing for starts too).

Like Bassette but think he needs to develop a bit more to play as a lone striker.

Really think results will turn around fast if we can build some familiarity in this shape and confidence turns a corner.

No they don't, did you even watch the game on Saturday and see what his tactics actually are?

Allen is a really interesting shout. Gives energy and willingness to receive the ball others don’t. Where do you fit him in though? Not at CM for me, maybe one of the wide forward slots?

Only slot for Allen in that case would be either Torps or Rudoni. Which in my opinion isn’t what we need Starting wise.

Think he would come in as one of the two central midfielders to help them regain energy.

I like this, only change would be rudoni for torp but happy either way

Traditionally based on Chelsea they do but rewatching the game, we had one of the wingers tuck into the cam and the other held width before cutting in (with Rudoni playing around him).

Think David’s spot on, 3-2-5 in attack and 4-4-2 in defence

Who is on the right of that five then? Saka?

That’s what I’m saying. I think Allen could be more effective than Saka there. It’s a more central role.

I like seeing the almost universal lineups offered so far include Simms. He needs to start for a run of games, personally thinking.
Going for a 2-1 win, an improvement on defence and Simms with the go ahead goal to fire him up.

Simms and wright will be the most effective strikers in this system imo due to there height. With Wright out it would have to be Simms

Ah okay, personally think that might be where we say Raphael when he’s a bit more fit or Rudoni with Torp playing where Jack is

I think in an ideal world we need someone with a bit of movement and passing ability that Palmer and O’Hare gave us in the final third. Allen isn’t that but he’s probably the closest we have.

I don’t think Allen is better than Sakamoto at anything offensively?

I think we’re lacking movement in midfield same as we were last couple of seasons at times without O’Hare. I think Allen offers you the best chance of that in the squad. I’m not convinced Saka is at his best playing inside a bit, even though his assist was outstanding. Maybe instead of Eccles but he’s just not impactful enough off the ball for me.

Not every shot I'm blaming on the midfield but without individually analysing every goal, these are the ones that spring to mind where I feel like midfield has to be better:

- Sheffield United first goal Hamer is allowed to drift into space between lines, Binks has to engage, open a gap and Hamer plays the pass leading to the goal. He's the best player and someone has to be on him.
- Burnley first goal. Dasilva is beaten yes, but the pullback inot the box finds their guy in acres to slide it in. Someone has to follow that run. Feel like this kind of goal has happened in another game I can't think of. Any kind of pullback into the box and we're in trouble it seems.
- Cardiff second goal. We're deep, midfield isn't putting enough in the way to stop the shot

Think that’s more true for right cam role then the left.

Ideally we bring in a good ball player for that ten role and we’ll see a lot more. Also means you can jack on the right so he’s on his left foot.

Millwall have got a fair few injuries in defence so I fancy us to bag a couple again. Bring Kitching in for Binks and hopefully the defence is a little more solid.

We won there last season after a poor run, maybe we could repeat the feat.

I'd play Allen over Sakamoto.

Sakamoto is a shadow of the player he was before his injury and I cant remember the last time he looked effective away from the CBS.

Not just Sakamoto though is it.

MVE, Simms, Sheaf all look a shadow of the players they were last year.

The only ones that seem to have carried over good form are Wright and Eccles.

I think that’s just a function of how the team is performing, he doesn’t have the physicality to make things happen on his own, needs people around him to link up with. We saw on Saturday the kind of chances he can create when we’ve got the right movement in attacking areas.

Agree with this, we always said how Milan struggled when tats was injured and now we can see how tats is struggling with Milan underperforming.

Not even going to try and name a team. Frank has had his moment of reality. All I can say is it will be different from the last game.

2- something. The rest will depend on if Frank is able to get a tune out of our players.

I expect the front 3 to remain the same.

I can see Dovin, kitching, Bidwell, Torp all coming into the starting 11.

Dovin has to come back. Collins may be good with the ball at his feet (not a whole lot better than Dovin though), but how many saves does this guy actually make? Seems the majority of on target shots go in when he's playing.

Kitching must start. The most physical of our CBs. Binks gets dragged around, and postionally gets caught.

Bidwell comes back. Dasilva cannot play at LB in a back 4. I'd be interested to see Binks there though.

Simms - He can't catch a break. His last start was against Luton and he was back to his best, and scored. Got injured, but hasn't had a start since then.

Otherwise, I don't think he can break up the Sheaf & Eccles partnership for this one, although I'd still like to see Rudoni in CM alongside either one. Play Torp AM, and put Rudoni in for Sakamoto perhaps, as I can imagine Millwall will target Saka for some rough treatment.

Collins, Binks and JDS should be dropped. Wish we could drop MVE but we have no one else to cover RB (maybe Lati at a push....)

Torp and Simms should start

Don’t think Lati can play the right back role if the system stays the same, you’d probably have to rotate it to have Lati become the third CB but then your struggling for the attacking Leftback role.

I mentioned Eccles but understand he’s only played the right wingback role for us
