Are there any coaches going from either Kenilworth or Warwick?

So was Bassette.

I noticed Frank putting a stop to some keepy uppy stuff that a group of players were involved in when it became a bit of mess around.

Sounded like he'd had enough of it when he clapped his hands for attention and said 'lets go lads I've had enough of watching that'

Playtime over me thinks.

That's all fine but if he's doesn't play at all then we may not be able to get him out, either on loan or permanently.

I think Lampard has taken a major dislike to him.

He's only player I can recall him making negative remarks about and he was very curt when asked about him the other week.

He clearly doesn't fancy Simms as a player but you never hear him being negative about him, quite the opposite. It's seems personal with Bassette.

The way football is going, the formation matters less and less. BTA starts out wide and darts for the box at the nearest opportunity when the ball is being progressed in opposition half. It's pretty common to see a triangle of MVE-Rudoni-BTA and once MVE can overlap, BTA goes to the box.

It'll be good to try different combinations. Haji-Simms looked good v Luton and with a bit more clinical finishing, should have been a clearer margin of victory. It'll be good to see Rapha get more minutes because we need to develop that talent for the important games to come.

My team would be:

Wilson
KKH
Thomas
Kitching
Bidwell/Brau
Rapha
Torp
Grimes
Rudoni
Simms
Wright

Or, the same midfield / attack as QPR but Rapha for EMC as I'm under the impression he's managing a knock.

Millwall is a tough opponent so don't think we can play the Luton XI again but equally, it's not worth risking important players (like EMC) that are carrying knocks.

Formations are more fluid but all the stuff re: positioning etc. still has to be learnt on the training ground so having a chance to test out a plan B in a competitive scenario would still be useful.

Think you're going a bit OTT there - he clapped his hands & was laughing at watching them prat around - sorry if it ruins your storyline

The penny seems to have dropped with all the other players about what they need to do. Bassette just hasn’t got the message.

There was something about Bassette's declaration of love for the city and kissing the badge and over exuberance on a number of Unseen videos that I just thought was for the benefit of the camera, it felt false.

Maybe FL has seen through it and isn't impressed.

Stopped reading after the first name

It has to be Wilson. His kicking isn't as good but at least you have a chance if there's any shots on target.

Zero clue what to predict - literally could be anything!

Hope for a positive result to keep the winning feeling going!

All boils down to whether our second string are better than Millwall’s and I think you could make a good case to say it is

His biggest moment for us was making a red card offence into an even bigger red card offence.

I'm not saying he's a poor player. He just hasn't come along at the same speed of ourselves. Not all transfers work. I just don't see a place for him in this squad or position he would get to play without multiple injuries. We need players that would be in contention for a place in the team with just a single player out.

Live in london so collection would need to be down here.

I'll drive your car if that's OK. The big bonus is if I park in a restricted area you will also get a ticket.

Slightly off at a tangent, but I notice that Oxford are at home to Brighton tomorrow night, which gives us an extra 24 hours rest and planning over them for the weekend. Every little helps !

Probably been covered before, but hasn't it been said the Bassette swore (presumably in a petulant manner) at Lampard, which is the cause of the fallout. Lampard showing his inner Clough?!

Can't believe how many are really against Norman. We are the ones who put him on a pedestal after the Sheff Utd games and loved his cheeky-chappy antics to the camera.
He has always had a punkish attitude and when that is channeled in the right direction he could be a world beater. He possibly has fallen from grace and sometimes he seems to be excessive which makes me feel he may have a social problem, as Gus sometimes had. Being away from not only your home but also your country can be challenging, being young, slightly immature and with money in your pocket can maybe make you do things you usually wouldn't normally do.
However. he is a city player and we should give him as much support as we can.

One would hope that isn’t what’s happened, but the easiest (and most obvious) explanation for Bassette not getting into the squad is that he simply isn’t very good.

This could finally be our season.
We don't want to get bogged down or too distracted by Cup games.
Good Cup runs are invariably detrimental to our league position in the long run, I have found over the years.

That was definitely FL just joking with them.

He was smiling while watching them, and smiling as he said that line.

I agree with you, but I think Lampard quite likes him as a player.

He was first choice striker for a while when Lampard first joined, keeping Simms and BTA out the side.

Then he dropped out of the XI and then presumably attitude became an issue, though that sounds like it cropped up more over pre-season than last season but who knows.

It’s a bit of a myth in my humble opinion

League 2 season we navigated from R1 to R5 and got promoted off the back of that

Covid season we navigated from R1 to R4 (should have been 5) and won the league

Unfair we base that opinion off the other season, we were already lagging behind in the play off chase by the time we played Man Utd, it was a tall order to make them anyway then the players basically threw the Birmingham game on the fire the week before which put the nail in the coffin

I think he’d still be getting minutes off the bench in such a case if he were doing the right things in training.

Trouble is he is all mouth and no trousers.

Bassette reacts to his goal against Pompey from all of 2 yards as though he has struck a worldie. BTA in the same situation at Derby last week just grabs the ball from the net and heads back to the centre, an unspoken acknowledgement that the real work had been done by others

Getting excited for this which I didn't expect, think I'm still basking in the glory of Saturday. Now to decide whether to fork out £70 for a train or drive into London at rush hour...

Wilson
KKH Thomas Kitching Brau
Grimes
Andrews Rudoni
Rapha Simms EMC

A bit of rotation but still gives us a good chance to win. Grimes, Rudi, EMC off at 60'. 1-0, EMC
