I think it’s useful for having glorified friendlies that help clubs get players up to speed. Eliminate 3/4 of the 72 EFL clubs in ‘round 1’ and then the rest will probably be eliminated in R2 so it has served its purpose.Thats an interesting concept. Frankly, I’m not sure it’d move the dial much in terms of interest.
Attendances are a problem too and now the draw is ‘seeded’ in the next round… I wouldn’t be against the League cup being a Prem only affair.
No one takes it seriously and only the top Prem teams have the squad depth to half arse the tournament until the latter rounds.
The examples you give are FA Cup. If we bow out of the FA Cup like we did tonight then I will be pissed off. Just don't feel the same about this competition. Will gladly sacrifice a defeat tonight if it means us beating Oxford on Saturday.
At least the FA Cup has decent prize money even early on.I get that, but the point still stands. A cup round drums up excitement amongst the fan base and players.
We brought ~40k to Wembley for an actual tin pot cup, and during one of the worst seasons in our history.
The interest is there, regardless of which competition.
Yes all those posts are commenting that he had a poor game tonight?
If someone says he has been absolutely garbage literally refer to last night. You are reaching. No, they go further than that. Saying he’s “a car crash” and “he has been absolutely garbage” are more than just comments on last night.
As for suggesting he was drunk, words fail me.
If someone says he has been absolutely garbage literally refer to last night. You are reaching.
Nobody would lose a wink of sleep if they totally scrapped this competition tomorrow.
No it just shows xg isn't a great statNot too concerned. Some performances weren’t the best but ultimately it’s a cup game where we didn’t put out our best and treated it like a glorified friendly.
Pretty sure we also had more XG than we did against QPR which just shows how funny this game is at times.
Onto Oxford where we will put up our first team and hopefully continue our league form.
On that matter of the league cup, always thought it would be good if they removed the premiership teams from it and kept it only for EFL clubs. Having a chance to win some silverware might make EFL clubs take it more seriously and means the top six wouldn’t moan about too many games
It was two mostly second string selections and there wasn’t much between the sides.Millwall are also a decent side, we've played only poor sides this season thus far. They didn't have their strongest side out either but largely out-muscled us.
It was always going to be an easy start to the season and that should continue on Saturday, but until last night we've only played sides who are likely to be in a relegation battle or who are in the league below.
More games needed to see how "good" we really are this season
At least the FA Cup has decent prize money even early on.
xg is a good stat but when used over a period of gamesNo it just shows xg isn't a great stat

if you are writing off KKH after 2 league cup games and 2 out position sub appearances then you are a nob.
General warehouse staff "never heard of her"‘I have actually signed a centre back Doug’
‘Oh I’m sorry Frank I thought I knew all the players, who is it?’
‘Julie’
‘Julie who?’
‘Anderton’
‘I see and where did we sign him from?’
‘Wycombe’

Why do you want to work for us?‘Money don’t make my world go round, I’m reaching out for a higher ground’

Big difference between this cup and the FA Cup. Nobody is ars*d about this until about the Q final stage.Don’t get the nonchalance.
Yea it’s not the end of the world by any stretch, but a cup run is enjoyable as fan. See Wolves and Man U as evidence; two memorable experiences as a CCFC fan.
And it doesn’t automatically mean it detracts from the league performances either. We weren’t great tonight but lost due to sloppiness and mistakes.
Don’t particularly agree ‘Slackie’They were the better side for 70 minutes
Are you new to the sport ?They were the better side for 70 minutes
I bloody love footballAre you new to the sport ?
I popped onto the Oxford forum (pre-Saturday check up) and their match thread (at home to Brighton tonight) has 3 (yes, three) posts on it. Don't want to call any fanbase tin pot, but that is odd.
The comparison would be the Millwall thread, I'm on about their Oxford v Brighton thread.I mean we haven’t even started one yet
When Haji came on he looked like a thoroughbred next to poor Ellis's Blackpool donkey.Simms also did alright in places considering the service the advanced midfielders of Allen and Andrews gave him.
I cant imagine we will move him on now. There have been very limited rumblings about any of the fringe players leaving.Don't think Simms played well personally. Is him doing anything of note now seen as praise worthy? I don't get it
I'm sure in a perfect window if lampard could move out he wants Simms would be gone
I mean, we're not judging fanbases on forum activity now are we?I popped onto the Oxford forum (pre-Saturday check up) and their match thread (at home to Brighton tonight) has 3 (yes, three) posts on it. Don't want to call any fanbase tin pot, but that is odd.
