I was thinking more sit on it for a bit, run out of options, then have everyone say Burroughs is the answer anyway.

tbf if after a season on loan Burroughs isn't pushing for a first team place next season, he probably needs to find a new club for his own sake anyway.

Said nobody. It's about getting value. MVE looks like good value but it's always easier after the event and you can't expect every signing to succeed, so nobody is being a smart arse. I was as excited by the Wright signing as anyone. But to suggest £4m for a wing back is not a lot of money at this level is an odd statement.

The point is, we've spent a small fortune and yet we're all moaning our squad is too small. Blues, Stoke and Hull have all done good business having spent a fraction of what we have spent. Hopefully we'll be looking down on them come May. That doesn't mean you cannot be concerned at some of the fees paid.

Stoke have a net spend of about £9 million whereas we are well in the black on our spending.

You’ve gone off all over the place there about a bunch of stuff I’ve not said. He was £3.5m same as Simms, same as Palmer when he moved to the Champ years ago, it’s a fair fee for a high profile youngster from a decent league.

My point wasn’t about his fee though, it was about spreading risk rather than putting all your eggs in Haji Wright.

You said 'I don't see him and Simms as big money signings'. I'm simply saying that I think they are very big money signings for this league. That's an undeniable fact, how are you even arguing that point with a straight face is baffling. The money we have spent on those 2 players alone is greater than most clubs have spent on their entire squad in 2 seasons. There is no disagreement from me on the fairness of the fee for MVE, I said it seems to represent value.

I trust the process. We're not really disagreeing on much. I think they are big fees though. MVE alone is around 25% of the clubs total annual turnover. It's a lot of money in that context. Yes I know we using transfer revenue, and we are securing young players on long contracts, but there is a lot of risk with the approach of going big on a small number of players. We'll also have huge operating losses to cover this season.

I’d put him on the half way line when we are defending corners, for the quick counter attack.

I don’t like us giving ourselves more to worry about defending corners while also giving us no counter attacking option from them.

I remember a few seasons ago when Robins put 3 on halfway when defending corners, I thought it was a brilliant plan. No idea why we now bring everyone back?

You then saw the opposition bringing more players back in response. Now they see we leave nobody up so then they leave perhaps 2 players back if that. Then the box gets a lot more congested and I think situations like those favour the attacking side.

MvE is definitely the best of our recent signings, he looks class and is getting better every game, most of our other signings look decent, but obviously Simms and Wright are an issue, but 8 of 10 successful isn't a bad result, it's just a pity are 2 most expensive aquasitions are yet to make an impact.

What a guy. Love him already. Long throws, fucking rapid, decent defensively, scores free kicks, name provides endless comedy commentary moments, looks like he fucking loves it here. What a breath of fresh air after the cavalcade of right backs we’ve had to put up with.

If we had him and Jay Da Silva to our squad last year. We have had a shot at 2nd place.

That's how good our 2 wing backs are this year respectively. One on a free and Van Ewick worth every penny of £3.5M.

Just hope we don't have to sell him to fund another strike force because so far it looks like we've paid way too much for Wright and Simms.

I've always felt MR isn't great at picking strikers. Yes, we got Gyok and McNulty came good, but a lot of his long term targets in that area have ended up being duds.

I don't think his success rate there is any better or worse than most other managers at this level. Mowbray does seem to have a very good eye for goalscorers though, if we ignore his Marc Antoine Fortune obsession.

I clearly luck into his mediocre games. Saw the first three then today's.

Very flat today. Got the ball, stopped, passed it back. Time and again. Sakamoto at least ran at their defence a bit.

That's how I feel.

I was almost blown away by him Friday but prior to that I didn't really see the fuss. Tonight was the same

He needs space to attack with his pace. That would be made for him by central midfielders driving forward and demanding attention from the oppo but it aint happening

Sakamoto has a fair bit of pace himself too, did very well to race back and intercept a counter attack after the ball was given away from a set piece.

Feels like he’s being stifled by this shit slow possession football Robins is trying to get us to play. It can’t be his natural game to constantly stop and play it back to the centre backs/centre mids every time he gets up the pitch.

MVE felt a thigh issue at the end of the first half but wanted to continue.

Start of second half he couldn't and may have done more damage, and MR is blaming the player saying they need to understand how their bodies work. Surely it's our managements job and physio to make that decision!
