Normally quite sensible on podcasts etc and usually vocal at home but a real embarrassment today.

They celebrated Whittaker’s goal as if they had won the champions league. Pints flying in the air and all sorts. Never seen a meaningless goal celebrated like it.

The carry on from the 12 year old boys in the block nearest to us and then the soon to be mother, who really should have known better, was rather sad to see.

Why did they all have full bottles ready to launch? Was hoping to catch one for the journey home but no success. Wasn’t searched on the way in, perhaps this is why these bottles are taken off you usually. Plenty of children trying to dodge the bottles but didn’t see any damage done.

Then the majority of the aforementioned block staying to watch our celebrations was incredibly bizarre. Imagine it might be lively for the reverse fixture.

Doubtful , the 2 sets of fans generally get on quite well on socials etc .

There will be next to no aggro at our place

Twas like a medieval barrage.

not just bottles. Vapes, lighters, coins, vaseline tins?

It was surreal. Seeing our supporters catching bottles just before they hit someone. Trying to keep an eye on the game etc Then there was a supporter who had been hit and had a head wound.
Anecdotes of 30 or so arrests as the Middlesbrough fans left the ground. (Ref bottle throwing).
City fans were resilient and only a few bottles were lobbed back after at least 5 minutes of trouble.

They were more than gutted after clawing their way back so well. But we didn’t even have time to sing 2-2 and you fucked it up before the 4th went in. When they realised we weren’t throwing them back they threw barrages over.

Sounds like they were looking for trouble last night. Tbh they were bellends around the play off semi but they've had no choice but to grovel since as we keep humbling them. I'll add them to the shit list mate don't worry, I don't think I can go any higher than around 6th/7th based on this years Championship though if that's ok?

A very young lad who (stupidly) threw something from Block 10 on Saturday got marched out by 10 police officers at the CBS.

It's very silly thinking you can throw vapes and coins and get away with it. There will be a few Boro fans getting a letter through the door this week.

Was that a Grant?
I wondered if they'd collared anyone.
Was right in front in 13 so he did well to get it that far from 10 if it was.

Rudi threw something back at them in the goal celebrations too. Cant blame him, but hope he doesn't get pulled for it as despite the provocation the authorities can be twats about that.

I don't know if you were at the game but on TV the referee was speaking to Rudoni & Grimes after the 4th goal and it looked like Rudoni was hit with a bottle of water. That will go in referee's report & surely a sanction for Middlesbrough

It must have been bad if the Ref was throwing bottles as well.

Bit suprised by the attendance to be honest. You'd have thought they could've sold a few more tickets being 2nd vs 1st.

And they seem to have the same issue with ridiculous segregation. Why couldn't the lower part of the away corner be sold to us?

Granted not as bad as last night but this has happened every season i've been there recently. Last season the guy in front of me got hit with a vape and outside walking back to the car park they were attacking cov fans in shirts. Another scrap outside Nandos aswell on the main road. They do seem okay in the forums but in person they have been dicks every season i've been there.

I was talking to a couple of their supporters after the game on they way back to the car and they were great. Same last year too and after the play off semi final loads of them were congratulating us was we walked by their pub. Always found them some of the better ones to be honest but the kids throwing stuff were just kids being dicks. Hopefully a few get bollocked by the police and nip it in the bud.

It’s a football mad part of the world and generally whenever I go to the NE it’s full of decent down to earth people. There are knobs in any fan base though and especially after a day on the beers.

Was very surprised by the number of empty seats anyway.

They're a decent bunch in the main. Pretty humble and don't have a chip on their shoulder like some other clubs in the north east. Stuff in the ground was kids playing up, but I've heard a few stories from recent visits of fans being picked off and bullied on the way back into town. Not on that.

There were a few a of their youths hanging around after the game trying to goad some of ours, saw a police cars race up towards the away end as I was walking back to the car. Hopefully just hurty words and handbags.

That's the worst missile chucking I've seen at football for many seasons. Dickheads.
Did a bottle hit one of our players as there was a long conversation with Grimes and the ref afterwards before the restart, the TV zoomed to a bottle on the pitch. Wonder if the ref was saying don't egg the celebrations.

‘And Whittaker gets one back 2-1 Coventry’:

The limbs for that was impressive but considering it was 2-1, felt ridiculously tinpot.

Even some of the remarks where they reckon they battered us? We have more shots, more shots on target, higher xG with 5 less touches in the box.

Had it not been for Thomas’ own goal, we’d have won 3 or 4-1.
