Kitching's fitness level is immense. He had to put in a long shift at the back. But was in the box for his second and then played in JDS to set up the 4th. He may not be the fastest and this level as high as he can go but his stamina is astonishing

The same could be said for the whole team under Frank Lampard, it's no coincidence we're getting goals late into the games.

I’m not overly bothered about it. But there are people on here who say it’s “meaningless”, which is akin to saying Tuesday doesn’t exist as a day of the week.

Cannot say I agree with some comments (on social media in general) around Middlesbrough "dominating" or being the "better side". I guess it is about perceptions, but I thought we looked a lot more dangerous, got into better areas and created better chances, as we are away from home, who really was the better side then? Obviously Tommy Conway should make it 3-2 and then who knows what the score would be. They reminded me of us at times last season, a lot of the ball and territory with a penchant for going out wide, but little end product.

Torp to get past a couple of players and get us up the pitch and the finish by Simms for the first was phenomenal, Grimes for the second is just an out of this world cross, good persistence from Thomas and reactions from Kitching for the third and a great ball in from Dasilva for the fourth, nice neat ball inside prior to this into the space by Rudoni who, let's be honest, gave us that spark when he came on, with a very honourable mention to Jamie Allen.

Simms the obvious man of the match, simply superb, not to gloat but I've always been a fan and it's great to see him putting in performance I think a lot of us knew he had in him. Also, got leaned on by someone behind me and turned around to ask who the fuck was touching me, only to see it was Simon Moore!

They may have “dominated” in some people’s eyes. We “dominated” both playoff games v Sunderland last season but the only stat that mattered was in the paper the following morning.

I will say, Middlesbrough have absolutely thrown the kitchen sink at us tonight. That performance from them destroys basically anyone else in the league and ultimately, it's a bizarre own goal and a miscued shot that have got them the goals.

As much as Whittaker irritates me, (for no other reason than he scored against us at Plymouth), that was a class strike, as was the brilliant save he forced from Rushworth.

Do you think Tommy conways chance was a good chance? How good exactly? If a player had that chance 10 times from that same position, how many times do you think would result in a goal on average?

If you cant get your head around that being useful analysis you just dont have the mental capacity unfortunately

We're getting an awful lot of difficult away games out of the way before the main run in (say matchday 30/31) too. Then your Southamptons, Boros, Stokes and so on all have to come here and get something.

In return, I'd say Bristol City and Hull are tough places we still have to travel to later in the season, but that's it.

I will tell you, honestly, I will love it if we beat them. Love it.

As satisfying as the technique for Grimes’ volleyed cross was, I’m genuinely more impressed by Kitching’s ability to accurately head a ball that appeared to be travelling at about 300 mph. Built different.

As I said early possession doesn't really matter anymore, football in 2025 isn't about possession anymore. It's nice but teams are starting to ignore possession and look to create more chances even if that means letting the other team have the ball and then hit them with fast direct attacks. Having possession for the sake of having possession without really looking like scoring that many goal, what is the point ij that?
Possession used to be more important when there were a few subs allowed. You could tire players out. Less important now.

On the other side Boro's defence this season has been rock solid and they were unbeaten at home. We went 2-0 up and scored four. 5 including the own goal.

They did have injuries to key players at the back with a winger (who mis-controlled the ball to Bobby) on the left.

Interesting contrast between Adi and Robin's tactics against us.
Stoke keep it tight, Boro go for it (even before our two goals).
Almost like the Man U match. Robin's first half, Adi's the second. Last statement is tongue in cheek.
Think they complemented each other.

It's extraordinary.
When we have injuries or suspensions, the replacement players just slot in to the formation, and we carry on scoring and winning.
Case in point:
Earlier in the season we dropped the league’s top scorer (Wright) to the bench and created a new one (BTA) in the same game.

And It's a girl!

She was born a few hours ago. Mom and baby happy and healthy, now in an overnight room. So, she arrived about 2 weeks ahead of schedule, and the wife just went into some extremely quick labor, and took only three pushes to arrive which I'm told was rather quick. She might be a superhero?

Happy for the support from you lot.

All-in-all, I give my predictions and baby update match thread a 10 out of 10. (See off topic thread PREGNANCY ANNOUNCEMENT)

The New family of 3 is happy, healthy, and discharged after a couple of days at hospital.

Just got round to watching the replay without seeing the scoreline ahead of time. She was sleeping on my chest for the third goal, had to contain myself mightily.
It was an entertaining, hi octane game altogether, surprised I foretold an OG, thrilled for Simms, even more surprised for Liam K.

Bring on the next victim, we should have no fear.
