There were periods in the first and second half when they had loads of possession, but even Sky were saying we are so tight in midfield and the back line they can't get through. Our first goal we knicked ball back off Whittaker just outside the box then we were off down the other end. Soaked it up and punished them. Table leaders form.did they "batter" us? they had loads of possession but never really looked like scoring loads.
On the other side Boro's defence this season has been rock solid and they were unbeaten at home. We went 2-0 up and scored four. 5 including the own goal.Depends. Both those teams create a lot of xG but both of them are tracking below this.
Equally, if those teams leave themselves exposed, we’ll score goals. These teams have good underlying data metrics but our way form is better than both their home records.
I take games as they are, we’ve conceded 4 goals from 2.66 xG in the last 2 which is ‘concerning’ despite is a slight underperformance. Compared to Blackburn and Watford at home where we conceded 1 goal from 3.75 xG and the narrative was more positive.
To find common ground, I agree that Lampard needs to look at the last 2 and tweak the tactics to tighten up the defence.
Found this Aussie Boro fan's watch along and fastforwarded to the goals (love a bit of schadenfreude the morning after). The best bit is when our 2nd goes in at 28:35 and he decides to sit down and has to reaaaaally slowly lower his standing desk and camera"Nowww it's sit down time"
It only really works if you're watching the game at the same time but surely you want the matching commentary. Or you're watching him without the game, in which case it's far worse than radioWho honestly watches this shite? I assume there must be people who watch this live

We had 20 shots to their 11, with a higher XGpossession stats?
It's weird, same as that one who watches Man Utd.Who honestly watches this shite? I assume there must be people who watch this live

Why not just watch the game themselves?
I think he's done some deal with Sky this season... lives in Staffordshire.. says it all really plastic Man U.I think the man u one makes a fair bit from it so probably happy for half the World to think he's an utter moron, which he is.
We own Boro lets be honest. We had 20 shots to their 11, with a higher XG
At this point its hard to say otherwiseWe own Boro lets be honest.
This drove me mental and I was like “WHAT THE HELL ARE WE DOING”, then we scored again hahaJust read on the Mboro fans site! "They even sent up there centre backs to attack us after they went 3-2 up! WTF"
Cannot say I agree with some comments (on social media in general) around Middlesbrough "dominating" or being the "better side". I guess it is about perceptions, but I thought we looked a lot more dangerous, got into better areas and created better chances, as we are away from home, who really was the better side then? Obviously Tommy Conway should make it 3-2 and then who knows what the score would be. They reminded me of us at times last season, a lot of the ball and territory with a penchant for going out wide, but little end product.
Torp to get past a couple of players and get us up the pitch and the finish by Simms for the first was phenomenal, Grimes for the second is just an out of this world cross, good persistence from Thomas and reactions from Kitching for the third and a great ball in from Dasilva for the fourth, nice neat ball inside prior to this into the space by Rudoni who, let's be honest, gave us that spark when he came on, with a very honourable mention to Jamie Allen.
Simms the obvious man of the match, simply superb, not to gloat but I've always been a fan and it's great to see him putting in performance I think a lot of us knew he had in him. Also, got leaned on by someone behind me and turned around to ask who the fuck was touching me, only to see it was Simon Moore!
Own up, which of you lot messaged him after the 4th to say "Stick that in your didgeridoo"?Found this Aussie Boro fan's watch along and fastforwarded to the goals (love a bit of schadenfreude the morning after). That reminds me, a fat bloke ahead me last night nearly got stuck in the narrow turnstiles. When you look at the obesity in this country, he's not even that big now
Explain how Kitch was up in an attacking position for the 4th goal.We went to 3 at the back and Kkh and Dasilva the wing backs
I can’tExplain how Kitch was up in an attacking position for the 4th goal.

And now why?We went 3 at the back allowing our wide CBs to get up the pitch when needed.
And now why?
And now what entertained his mind not going down for the free kickGame isn’t won until it’s won. Sitting on things is for expectant hens.

Is that why the likes of Mark Goldberg do? I don’t understand the appeal of watching someone’s reactions to watching a live event.Soon it’ll be a stream of someone watching a stream of someone else watching the game

If you’re interested in football, go to your local football stadium or down the local pub and watch the game in a social environment.
We need to bring back bullying…Gen Z innit
the aforementioned "whey's" can he hearded even better here, also what a goal
Great advert for the Championship
One of our better performances recently but ultimately the difference in the two sides is what won the day. Clinical in attack.
I have to say, for all the possession we had, you looked dangerous on every attack. We did have a makeshift defence last night but no excuses, we had our chances and our big moment and didn't take it, unfortunately that is how it is going at the moment and against most teams it probably finishes a draw but with your form and strikers playing like that (and centre backs) then what can you do.
Onto the next.
Best of luck for the rest of the season lads and lasses. Not sure you need it mind
Hopefully for the return fixture both sides are near full strength. We had to make 3 changes in defence v Wrexham, sometimes its just too much to cope with no matter how well you've been playing.
