Thought he was excellent yesterday.

He was up with play, didn’t fall for anything, gave fouls that looked like fouls and didn’t take any rubbish.

So refreshing compared to some of the useless ref’s that we see week in week out.

Yes I felt like you could tell the difference between a top quality ref like that, and the shit we get each week

Talksport and MNF would have you thinking the refs are poor in the PL, it was a world away from the EFL. His positioning for the dive/pen was excellent.

Linesmen and VAR wasn't bad too. I didn't initially see all the offside/hand-ball goals and the dive from the Luton player. If we had some of the rubbish Championship refs/linesmen yesterday, we would have easily lost by 5 goals at least in regulation time.

Guaranteed our fans would have been slating him if it had been our three goals that he (correctly) disallowed.

was impressive - the difference between premier league refs and EFL refs is night and day.

I also like Mark Clattenburg - he reffed us v Forest some years back when we lost 1-0 and he got every decision right

Best referee in this country, by a mile.

And when he gave something it was quick - whistle was already in his mouth by the time a player hit the deck.
that for me was the difference really, although I haven’t brought myself to watch it back yet I didn’t see the penalty dive but from what I’ve heard he called it straight away.

I thought he was poor to be honest. Blew his whistle at every bloody opportunity.

He was ok, did nothing about their timewasting and dark arts.

He is the best English ref but that isn't a high bar

When you don't notice the ref, then they've done a great job. I barely noticed him.

Was mostly great but:

- Didn’t spot 90% of the wrestling and shirt pulling from Luton
- Inexplicably gave them the drop ball after their keeper went down to stop us attacking
- Added time made no sense TBH

Couldn’t name names, but we have had better in the league this season.

No idea how Gyokeres’ shirt remained intact. Just another ref to completely ignore it. Yet Ben Sheaf does it once in the tiniest subtlest way and Luton get the free kick. At least two of our admittedly strong challenges cleanly won the ball. Nope, free kick Luton. The consistency imo was just as poor as we’ve seen regularly this season. Not on board with the OP, sorry!

Yeah it did feel like he was very naive about Lutons gamesmanship. I still don’t understand how you can have one man ignore the ball entirely and wrestle a player away while another goes after the ball.

That’s the way most of the teams we’ve played have tried to cope with Gyökeres since Christmas. The plan is usually to switch the man responsible for tracking him after the first one gets booked. Some teams (Preston spring to mind immediately) did this very effectively. Most couldn’t prevent him from having at least a few moments where he caused havoc.

Not just the wrestling between him and his man but Luton seemed to have one guy who’s entire job was pushing our man out the way and I didn’t see it penalised once. The shirt pulling I don’t get either as I could see it from space (back of block 551).

In fairness to the above posts, the city Instagram shows two shocking examples of shirt pulling in Vik and I think Norton cuffy.
we certainly don’t do as much as other teams do and it is clear how they’ve resorted to stopping viktor. Shame.

Thought he was excellent. Said it during the game a couple of times when Luton players threw themselves to the ground (100% given by EFL refs), but he was having none of it. He's not going to spot everything, but head and shoulders above the dross we have to put up with most weeks.

I thought he was excellent overall but could have carded them on a couple of occasions for pull backs.

Yep Clattenburg was the best but didn’t tow the party line with the suits in charge who made it difficult for him. Bit of a witch hunt in the end so he got out.

People commenting on Vik being manhandled, watch it back and look how our backline handled Morris and Adebajo. We were just as physical as they were.

Maybe we need to make next season's shirt out of a material that rips easily when tugged. Or covers the players hand in some sort of ink?
