Striker been linked with us in todays People. 30 year old striker. Did well in Scotland and currently playing in Holland. Dont know too much about him but his goalscoring record is surprisingly decent.

Seemingly improved with age as well. Wouldn't be the worst signing.

That sounds too good to be true, would be good experience but again where is this SP policy of bringing in youth ours or others.

Perhaps there are no young strikers at the club that SP believes are ready? It's a position it is hard to take a gamble on. Yes it paid off with Wilson but he was physically mature at 21 and had pace.

He's probably the striker pressley was talking about when he said we could get him for free but he wouldn't trial with us

Decent compilation.
Left foot, right foot, headers, tap ins, range.
Can finish, might be just what we need

Thought I remembered the name for some reason .

Before and after: Michael Higdon with the award and the morning afterIt was certainly a night to remember for football star Michael Higdon...
Firstly he was crowned player of the year at a lavish ceremony... and then just hours later he was arrested and put in a police cell after a nightclub bust-up.
But Higdon, sporting a large bruise on his forehead, declared today: “It was still the best night of my life.”
He added: “I’m not the type of lad who goes out clubbing. I’m a country pub-type of guy.”
The Motherwell striker was named Professional Footballers’ Association Scotland Player of the Year at a ceremony in Glasgow just before 11pm last night.
But by 1.45am today he was in the cells.

in that compilation 2 outside the box + 2 from beyond the penalty spot, so if we sign him we better give him the service and crosses he needs, he can obviously finish if we can tee him up.

Looks like he could Bully a few defenders at this level too.

Found this on wiki:

Higdon's most famous moment for Crewe came against Coventry City in the last game of the 2004–05 season where he scored the winning goal to keep Crewe Alexandra in the Championship.

I thought only Ibrahimovic did that; think he's too good for a trial

Reminiscent of John Hartson in his hey-day for us...especially the first few with his head shaved!?

On 8 July 2013, Higdon signed a 2-year contract with NEC Nijmegen.

Looks an ideal player for us, but sadly he appears to be under contract, and he probably earns more that we can currently afford, playing in Div 3 and with the tiny attendances in Northampton.
If we were at the Ricoh though....maybe, just maybe.

Yes he would be under contract but has a clause saying he can leave for free if relegated which they were. I think this could have legs.

Chesterfield FC are still in talks with N.E.C Nijmegen striker Michael Higdon but there is no deal imminent yet.

The former Crewe, Motherwell and St Mirren striker had an excellent season in Dutch football, scoring 14 in 32 games but it’s understood that he’s available after his club’s relegation from the Eredivisie. However, according to the Sheffield Star the deal is being held up by Higdon’s high wages being more than the Spireites are willing to pay even before adding agents fees and a transfer fee.

Chief executive Chris Turner to the club’s twitter account that talks are ongoing with the 30-year-old as the club look to add extra firepower for their first campaign back in League One.

That was before Chesterfield realised they'd messed up their budget and so will not be able to sign anymore players.

As other people have said he almost seems too good to be true. Scores different types of goals and was top goalscorer in the SPL 2 years ago. Always make me question why Championship clubs aren't interested.

Because the SPL is about the same standard as League 1, bar Celtic who are top end Championship

League One rivals Chesterfield were understood to be in talks with the 30-year-old earlier this summer but his wage demands prevented a transfer to the newly-promoted side.

Could we offer more than Chesterfield?

No ... we couldn't ! Can't offer more than anyone in our league would suspect, or more like we won't ... plus the FFP issues, probably mean with our last season attendance, we couldn't even if they wished to ... which they don't !

said the manager who dismissed reports that City are in for Michael Higdon of Dutch club NEC and who is a former team-mate of Pressley’s from their time at Falkirk.

Doesn't look like it's happening.

That's just not true is it, we offered more wages to Swanson and O'Brien than Barnsley and Posh could. Also Elvis has just ruled out a move for Higdon as we'd have to pay a transfer fee

Apparently we can't go after him as he sounds really good but we need to pay a fee so we can't go for him. Crazy
