Haven’t watched it yet but I would think there’s only 2 real possibilities. Suicide or a catastrophic failure of the ventilation system filling the plane with carbon monoxide.

I'm still trying to figure out what the point of this documentary is. It's just people saying random theories.

Pretty sure I could link it to mr blobby somehow, that's what this bloke is doing.

Yea i agree, just a pissing contest as to who has the best theory

Why not look more into the actual facts?

I've watched the first 2 episodes and thought the same. I knew the pilot theory and felt like they left out a load of the original reasons why they thought it might be him, like the way the new flight path went over his home town etc.

The end of the 2nd episode is ridiculous. Like "Here's 3 things we think we know, and from that here's my 15-step theory into what might have happened, using pure speculation for the bits in between"

He set it on a course to go into the middle of the ocean and then incapacitated the passengers and crew including himself. Seems pretty clear but a harsh reality to come to terms with. People who want to take their own lives are often very good at masking it until the final act.

Taking your own life is one thing, but taking the lives of loads of other people with you is quite another.

And it wouldn’t be the first time a pilot has done it.

I haven't seen this latest documentary, but I have seen some work done by 60 Minutes Australia, which was very interesting.

Looking away from the actual crash, and behaviours afterwards, I have a strong feeling the Malaysian government has been trying to sweep it under the carpet since day 1. Why they would do that might answer some of the questions, but I am absolutely certain they know more than they are letting on. They seem to have been actively trying to sabotage the recovery operation.

Well Malaysia Airlines is a state owned airline. So they wouldn’t particularly want it known that one of their pilots felt compelled to crash his own plane.

The thing is, I would never fly on them. The lack of explanation, the fact a plane just went missing (which is just an insane concept), and a cover up. Suggests to me the reasoning is worse than not knowing in the opinion of the Malaysian government. If he did crash it, then is that really worse than a technical fault? Difficult. As a passenger what do you think when you hear the name Malaysian Airlines? The fact they had another plane come down over Ukraine just makes it even more weird for me.

It's a very very interesting case. I would definitely advise watching the 60 Minutes Australia documentaries if you have some time.

You said it was even weirder because one of their planes got shot out of the sky.

Well it is. It's weird enough a major airline had a plane go missing, even worse to have another shot out of the sky. Statistically the chances of either happening are almost none, yet it happens to the same airline.

There's zero chance I'll ever fly on them.

The plane that was shot down could have been any other airline - I don’t see how it has any relation to a plane going missing.

It doesn't matter. Two freak events is of course a relation as it is the same airline it happened to. Even if it was a complete coincidence, it doesn't give me an overwhelming desire to travel with them.

Just watched the series, if anything I just believe more strongly what I did at the time, that the pilot took it down himself. Those trying to argue otherwise just seem to be clutching at straws either hoping or not wanting to accept that's almost certainly what he did.

You were the one that brought your flying choices up! I was just asking that if two incidents in a short space of time makes you feel uncomfortable flying with an airline I assume you feel the same about those two I listed.

Yes, I posted on a thread about Malaysian Airlines that I wouldn't fly on them. You then started an interrogation. Did AA or United have flights go missing, that the whereabouts or reasoning were never ascertained? It's a bizarre and pointless comparison. I would genuinely advise against trying to lecture me on the subject of aviation as well. I guarantee I know more than you on the subject.

It's sad and a bit weird that you are following me around the forum at the moment, windmilling every post I make because I called you out on another thread. Have you got nothing better to do?

Well, Malaysian has had one that couldn’t be found aside from some debris, and another that was shot down over a war zone. The data is pretty overwhelming though in pointing to it landing in the middle of the Indian Ocean and that was most likely done deliberately by someone on board.

I wouldn’t worry about SBD stalking you but if you’re worried, you are the forum’s expert on restraining orders so it should be an easy fix.

It's about the only example in modern history that a plane of that size has just completely gone missing without any trace essentially. Planes have come down, Air France 447 being an example. Planes have been shot down, Metrojet 9628 an example of that. MH370 is unique in its own right however. There's no complete and solid proven explanation or recovery. You must see that, right?

I don't even have anyone on the block button for the record.

There has been traces of it in debris that has been conclusively assigned to the aircraft. Equally the Inmarsat data stands up to rigorous scrutiny.

And yes it is by some distance the biggest one to disappear, but many planes carrying 50+ and in one case even 100+ have crashed without ever being found. In this case, it’s gone down in about the most remote area possible and where the sea floor itself is very difficult to explore. The pilot who crashed it there clearly didn’t want it to be found.

Which is chilling in itself but then again, everything is unprecedented until it happens.

I don't follow anyone around. I read the posts and decide whether to argue/react with them before I've even looked at the poster. That's how I do it. Based on content. I guess due to my beliefs I'm just more likely to agree with certain people on particular issues and disagree with others.

As for calling me out, do you mean that thread where I posted something from three years ago that showed I was against denying people platforms regardless of their political views and persuasions?

Your post from three years ago goes very little way towards mitigating your over-interest in the recent news, but this isn't the thread for it anyway. I'm just pointing out that you seem to be on rapid response for a large amount of my posts recently and it looks odd, but I guess it must just be a complete coincidence.

Statistically aren’t Malaysian airlines probably the least likely to crash? Prior to these two incidents they had a really good safety record. That being the case they probably aren’t due another crash for a good 30 years.

Geez, time for a break?

That aside, I flew Malaysian on one of those A380's immediately after, great flight. I thought they were probably the best bet at the time as they wouldn't want to put a foot wrong.

Time for a break, what do you mean?

The A380 is one of the best aircraft to fly on. It feels like you're on a massive ship.

I’ll give you that. Best landings I’ve ever experienced and smoothest flights too were all on A380’s.
