The latest reduced offer from Arena Coventry Limited (ACL) quoted at £400,000, but with the additional business rates and match day costs took the actual cost to over £800,000, shows that ACL are thankfully changing their view on the rent. They are realising that the current rental cost of £1.3 million plus £170,000 in rates are unrealistic for a Football Club now in League One.

This feels like pure spin to me, it's looks clear that she has added matchday costs to ACL's offer and not to the current rent. If thats the case the rent offer is a reduction from 1.3 mill to 400k. If so that's a reduction of £900,000 from ACL. Even if that isn't the case it's still a reduction of £670,000 from ACL. What was ACL's profit? can they really afford to lower their income by more than 670k or 900k?

The matchday costs and the business rates are a separate issue. ACL can't agree to lower the business rates, even if some of the same people are involved. It should not be stopping ccfc paying the rent.

5 years at 1.3 million the could of bought half the stadium for that like they said they were going to.

What gets to me is they have known for 5 years what the rent was and they only choose to do it now?!? Either they were not bothered or they have some crap researchers!

Who knows what the agreement was when they took over, they probably had a strong case of renegotiating it but maybe it wasn't offered? Also it was pre credit crunch and maybe money wasn't as big of an issue for them as it is now??

The problem wasn't SISU though the problem goes way back to that meeting in 2003 where we sold our 50% share of the ground and signed the rent agreement with no leeway to change it IF anything ever happened! Every one talks about mortgages, rent agreements etc but i cant remember one that remains concrete for such a long period of time! In the commercial and business world it may be the norm but rent, lease and mortgages in house hold are done on a shorter period of time! i.e. i have a 3 year fixed mortgage at the moment in 18 months i can look to get a better deal if i wish..... Am i barking up the wrong tree here? Its just something i thought of as i was typing this out!

It seems you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. Why dont we ever here from Joy is the cry and then she speaks and all the moaners that she never speaks moan thats she spoken.

She would be a fool to not give factual info about what we pay and about other clubs rents, especially with the football league publishing it which means it will be available for all to get hold of at some point.

At the end of the day its about the cost to play a game of football and whether its rent or matchday costs it doesn't matter to me it is the overall cost thats important. It needs to be lower at this point in time.

I for one am glad she has made a statement as its better than saying nowt whether you believe her or not.

Your Lordship - Whilst it was nothing to do with SISU when the original contract for rent was being negotiated between ACL and the club the original offer to the club was to link the rent to attendances but McGinnity turned this offer down. There is a difference in your analogy between domestic mortages and commercial ones - often domestic ones the 3 year period etc is a discount to entice you to take that one and not a competitors one and its quite rare for people to move their mortgage unless moving house as there will be all sorts of penalty clauses written in to discourage you from doing so. Commercial mortagges tend to be more straight forward but are more based on the Loan to Value ratio and it is this factor that SISU are manipulating in their attempts to force ACL into difficulties and get their hands on the Yorkshire Bank loan.

Sounds to me like Joy has,is or is getting, a whole lot of support from other League clubs even to the extent of showing up the Council for it's small-mindedness and lack of support ? Clever move Joy !

Perhaps because some of us want to see a football club run responsibly and which doesn't break contracts as a negotiating tactic. We have a vastly reduced income because of SISU's mismanagement but some here would have you believe ACL sold off most of the squad and appointed a rookie in charge.

I didn't say that Andy, my sentiments were almost exactly the same as those in your previous post. Do I support CCFC, yes I do, but I also support ACL and don't want to see them driven out of business by our underhand tactics.

If SISU are serious about looking after CCFC it will take a long time to repair the damage they have caused over the years, they need to start proving it by actions not words.

OK, find me the quote where I said "I want CCFC to go out of business"

To be fair, my sympathies on this are entirely with ACL, and in we would deserve it if we are forced out of business. In many ways, it could be a good thing, for Coventry and for football in general, if it acted as a wakeup call against poor financial management (or mis-management). But I still hope it doesn't come to that.

Why are we engaging with all the other clubs in League 1?

We have a bigger fan base than most.

We have a better pedigree than most.

We have much better facilities than most.

In short any comparison is flawed at birth.

We are there because it is what the actions of the last few years have realised. We shouldn't want to stay there, and we shouldn't be washing our dirty linen in public. I'll Ignore the Christmas message, I dont recall there being one for the last few years, and given its proximity to the impending deadline you really do not need to be Einstein to work it why its there at all.

SISU's predecessors are worse than SISU, they got us in this mess (SISU did play their part I will add). I was all for moving to the RICOH (it was exciting as a kid), and in hindsight I still think it was the right thing to do, just not when we had no money to even own a stake in our own ground then having to pay rip off rent!

They were small time local businessmen and politicians with dubious financial backgrounds with massive self interest first and foremost in their minds - SISU are an international hedge fund who's sole purpose is destroying companies, buying them cheap and flipping them. Whilst Richardson, Robinson etc were in it primarily for personal gain they needed CCFC to succeed if they were to see a return. SISU have little or no interest in "cherished" CCFC. The previous owners were bad, misguided, of questionable honesty and integrity - SISU are just part of the ugly side of capitalism.

Who was/is worse? Not really relevant but by a small margin I would vote for SISU. How refreshing it wwould be to have open, honest owners who actually put the supporters first - even at this time of year its one miracle that won't happen.

It seems for some that their new found "morals" and pleas for value for the tax payer comes before the club they "support".

Yes, they have sold off players and they have got things wrong. But the stadium rent and our pathetic crowds were always going to make the move a bad one.

SISU take a fair dollop of blame, but so do the stayaways and ACL. No one comes out of this looking good.

Personally, I hope the club do what they can to get the lowest rent they possibly can for my football club. That will mean more money for the club.

Well, if that's the case then I think you should tell them to support the fucking club week in and week out rather than waiting for trips to Old Trafford, the Emirates and White Hart Lane.

It seems the citizens of Coventry can't be arsed.

Happy Christmas.

No it's not, CCFC is the CCFC fans' club, on that logic, my mate who supports Man U, CCFC is more his club than say a CCFC who doesn't live in Coventry? Or, it's just as much his club as mine!? Fuck off is it.

CCFC, however, should play a big role in the community.

Can you explain what ACL have done wrong, or why they "look bad"? They have not overcharged us for use of the Ricoh. Repeat - they are not ripping us off.

Personally, I don't subscribe to the view that a lower rent must be achieved at any price. I don't want CCFC to benefit over the body of ACL. Remember, ACL is a joint venture of a local charity and the local council (who stepped in with millions to bridge the stadium funding gap when we were homeless, and have never been repaid properly). I want them to succeed as well as CCFC. But there are fans on here who only seem to care about CCFC and don't mind if others get hurt by our tactics in our bid to get our own way. SISU's conduct has been unconscionable.

As for SISU's "support" for CCFC, this is simply because in this instance, the interests of CCFC and SISU are aligned. When it came to investing in the squad last season, that was not in SISU's interests so they didn't want to know.

I've been paying tax, but I get it back at the end of the financial year as I have to earn a certain amount before I should get taxed - same for everyone.
