If he truly loved her and cared about her wouldn't he just wait until she was 16 and an adult being able to make her own adult decisions?

His career will now be over and god knows what sentence he will now get. Possible jail if they can prove he's had underage sex.

Thought teachers were supposed to be intelligent.

I have no problem with anyone being in love whoever they are or what age, but you have to abide by the rules and laws of the land.

As her teacher he would have to wait until she was 18 not 16.

Regardless of the underage sex he's abducted her. It's not her decision to go with him as a juvenile, it would need her parents to agree.

At the end of the day, she knew what she was doing. Its not like she's 4 years old. She's got a mind of her own. And tbh, it ent really child abduction cus she went of her own free will. I dont apporve of what they're doing but the media are blowing this waaaaay out of proportion

No, get that about him being a teacher, but at 16 he could have changed jobs so they could have been together.

Love is all about sacrifice isn't it? Not much to ask to give up your job for the one you love.

And if she was 16 it wouldn't have been abduction. Which was kind of my point.

I'm afraid by law it is the same as her being 4 years old. She is legally a minor and he had no right to take her without her parents permission.

Why would that make a difference? If it was a Female Teacher and Female Student it wouldn't affect the fact that an adult teacher is abducting a child student.

It doesnt make a differance if its a guy and a girl, a girl and a guy or gay or lez. Rich is right. Legally she didnt have her parents permission. She's still a minor so its a criminal offence

14 year olds have a mind of their own, so do 12, 10 year olds etc. Where does it stop?

Nope you're still a minor until you're 18. It would still be abduction if she was 16. People forget things like the fact 16 year olds can't get married without parents permission.

was looking last night at the age of consent around the world...spain is only 13...columbia is 12 for girls but 14 for boys...work that out.i must admit i think we have it right at 16

The problem with lowering the age is that people will say she is "nearly" whatever the age happens to be - a bit like driving on the motorway where 80 is really acceptable but if they make 80 the limit then people will say "its only 90" etc

When I saw that teacher on the news, the picture they showed he looked 19-20. Now newer pictures have come out he looks older though.

Her dad was on Crimewatch and said they won't be angry with her. I bet she is going to be grounded when she gets home!
