According to our freind on CWR, Bob Brolley has said that McSheffrey will miss the Milwall game due to injury, Carl Baker will probably take his place, Thoughts????????

Disappointing news, as Sheffers has been in really good form lately. However, this could be a good chance to see Baker in his best position, just off the front 2.

It's a shame, but this is Baker's chance to stake his claim for a more frequent place, so let's hope he grabs it. As has been said, this is the position he played in and scored so many goals from at Stockport, so let's hope he has a good game.

Ever since Baker came to cov, i couldn't understand why he was playing out on the wing for us. His natural position is just behind the front two. It's annoying.

Surely the great plastic paddy could lay healing hands upon the McSheff and have him skipping about like a spring lamb in no time, not much to ask off the man who single handedly got the Ricoh built (leg end in his own lunchtime)

Shame if Sheffs is out, he's really stepped up in the last few games and has played very well. Lets hope Baker can provide a good replacement as he's had some good performances this season and netted some fantastic goals.

its just bad news

VERY bad news would be him missing when we had one game to go and 2 points away from safety

Little Sheff has played well in the last 3 or 4 games but that hardly makes up for a poor season overall. The team carried him in the previous 15 or so games.
We are safe now so let's see Baker start and hold Freddy in reserve for late on when Baker's spindly legs get wobbly.

Don't think he's quite ready yet.

big miss for us, hopefully Baker will do a decent job, after all this is supposedly his position.

Does anyone know if Freddie is fit for saturday? I am sure that baker will do a job in that position but would be nice to have some cover. Dont think Deegan would be fit enough at this stage and anyway top of the diamond in mid field is not the right role for him. still think it will be 2 - 0 city.

I like Baker, but David Bell could play at the top of the diamond and McIndoe [remember him?!] or Deegan could come in to CML. McIndoe is left-footed, Gunnarsson is right-footed so they should compliment each other.

Don't agree at all with this. He had a run from the wing earlier where he scored 4 in 4, mostly cracking goals, then he fell out with Aidy. He was still the guy who got me out of my seat, for pretty much every game he's played. He's being played in his natural position now, that's why he's been so much better. The team was imbalanced when we were defensive and direct in outlook and his main job was to defend the LB-who was usually a right-footed CB!

I don't think he's just been good in the last 2 games, either-I think he's been superb in the last 5. As for the goal at Burnley, wow..

Yeah I'm biased and love the guy, I get just prickly when people have a go at him because I'm sure many will never forgive him for leaving. He gave me more entertainment than anyone else in his 1st spell, right now he looks every bit as unplayable at this level. And it does mean something to me that he's a Cov lad and came through the system. As things stand, I think he's every bit as vital as Westwood and King-perhaps more so, (along with Sammy) as our gameplan revolves around that diamond.

Aidy was workman-like, had square pegs in round holes and just one idea. Thorn is geezer, architect and artist all in one, with beautiful visions. McSheffrey is his most vibrant colour

Steady on, lad.
We all have our favourites, I suppose. He can be quality and gets vital goals but I think we've rarely seen it this season. Given the ball away constantly in half the games I have seen. Abysmal around the time of the Blues game despite talking big. Overall he sums up CCFC...inconsistent. I agree that the role he is playing now suits him. He didn't gel with Aidy, that's for sure.
We'll have to agree to differ I guess.

I hope I eat my words but McSheffrey is twice the player of Carl Baker and we will miss him on Saturday.

Not a great fan of the curly one but to describe him as a 'plastic paddy' is not only quite offensive but also inaccurate given that the term is typically aimed at people claiming to be Irish when they are actually born outside the 'Emerald Isle'. As Brolly was born in Ireland why do you call him a 'plastic paddy'?

The guys knows feck all anyway so I expect Sheffers to line up against Millwall anyway!
