Danny McSheffrey
Danny McSheffrey, manager of Baker Joiner Midland Alliance club Coventry Sphinx, appeared at Coventry Magistrates Court last week to face the charges.

The court heard that on October 9th he was stopped in Stoke and found to be twice over the drink drive limit. A quantity of cocaine was also found in his car.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to both offences. He was fined £265 for possession of the Class A drug and £400 for drink driving.

He was also banned from driving for a year.

In a statement issued by the club it was confirmed that McSheffrey, the brother of Coventry City star Gary McSheffrey, had tendered his resignation but the club had not decided whether to accept it.

It states: “Coventry Sphinx Football Club is aware that manager Danny McSheffrey has recently received a criminal conviction for certain offences and after brief conversations with Danny last weekend, the committee have instructed him to take a period of leave from his duties as first-team manager, whilst we establish fully the facts relating to these.

“Danny has since offered his resignation and this will be considered by the committee once all the facts are established.”

Glad his brother's not like him at all. :thinking about:

...I thought it was going to be about him offering to resign from playing in the diamond formation and agree to go out wide
