Does anyone else think we might be missing something with the McPake going on a free thing ? Didn't we get offered 100k for him only a fortnight earlier ? All the reports at the time said "we negotiated hard with the McPake to Hibs deal" makes me wonder wether we may well get somebody back in the other direction ? It doesn't make business sense to let a player with a value and a contract go on a free, even if we are trying to free up wages,

So it makes me either think we're lining up a bid for a Hibs player that is all but accepted or there has to be a clause in which a fee will be payed depending on appearances....

If this has been said previously I apologise, I can't be bothered to trawl through 100 threads looking for the same comment !

Wouldn't count on it-Hibs could not afford to pay the transfer fee and give McPake his wage demands (which had already been vastly lowered from his current wages at City), so they offered zero on the fee so McPake could get the salary he was after. I can only assume the City hierarchy were so keen to get rid they were more fussed about getting him off the books than holding out for cash.
