McLeish gets Villa job (1 Viewer)

Alex McLeish has been sentenced to three years at Aston Villa as punishment for leaving neighbours and fierce rivals Birmingham City.

The day after controversially winning the signature of Coventry striker Marlon King, McLeish quit as Blues manager amid recriminations on both sides with Birmingham threatening legal action and are claiming £5.4m to cover the remaining two and a half years of his contract. They also accuse Villa of tapping up their former manager.
McLeish has a three year deal with Villa. He said,

"I am honoured to have this opportunity to manage a club with such a fantastic history. The heritage, the history of success and the tradition of Aston Villa are compelling and irresistible."

"The challenge for me is to try to add my own chapter. I know that some of our fans have voiced concerns and I can understand why. It will be up to me to convince you that I am the right man to drive the Club forward and I intend to give absolutely everything to prove that I can be a success at the Club."
