Looks sharper since he came back imo. Loan worked well nd with the run in the side now I think he will get a few.

His celebration involved fishing with the corner flag. Clearly supporting Tim Fisher, boo that man.

He had way more space for the finish than I'd thought at the time, took it nicely. It looked more like a foul from the Telegraph stand too, but on TV he just seemed to shrug him off fairly.

Cody is a good finisher 1on1, he scored a good one against Brum.
He's quite strong considering his size and is a little terror for defenders. He pushes answer shoves and finds his way through gaps. Makes chances out of nothing. Him and Clarke together would look strong.

Look out for him sporting a goatee and speaking in incoherent Geordie next game as a nod to big Steve W. Then you'll see. The week after he'll be missing from the team in a nod to Joy.

I don't want to shoot anyone down but there's a reason why he hadn't been picked before Clarke we all know Clarke would be first choice. I would like to see them both upfront but I know that isn't likely. Leon looks like he would get something out of nothing. I'm not putting anyone down my faith is down to McDonald & the others supplying him

Was gunna start a thread about how McDonald's goal was never a foul, but this one will do! NO WAY was that eva a foul, admittedly my only source of info before watching it on FL was the commentary on sky blues player, and Clive was certain it was a foul. Therefore I was worried, thinking "god we've only won against hartlepool by a superstious goal" but nooooooooo McDonald just out muscled the wimpy defender and put it in the back of the net!!! Ha, good goal, bet their manager who got sent to the stands for complaining will feel like a dick wen he sees that, cause it twas awesome! we we're worried wen mcgoldrick left and we got Clarke, even though he had a goal scoring record at scunny, now we're worried about havin McDonald, even though he scored the goals at Gilliham, maybe its time for us to hav faith and believe the Big Mac will do it for us! PUSB

Additional: I'm pretty drunk so sorry for any spelling or grammatical errors!

Edit: Freddy Eastwoods goal for Southend was quite....nice yes, very good!

Funny that, cos yesterday there were quite a number of people on here during the match thread saying it was obviously a clear foul.

Well, quite obviously it clearly wasn't a foul.

I didn't think it was a foul at the time, felt he just outmuscled the defender. Wouldn't have surprised me had a free kick been given though, but quite clearly, it was not a foul.

And if it was never a foul on the highlights then it was never a foul in real life!!

I was 50/50 about it at the time but the replays all show the defender getting on the wrong side and being out muscled. It's a good goal all day long.

Wasn't a foul, Cody turned him, their player dived, the way he fell went against the laws of physics.

If the lad is a CB, how weak is he? I'm not buying it for a second!

some will look at it as a foul, some wont. Im a Cov fan so to me its never a foul. if you are a Hartlepool fan, im sure you could make a case for it being a foul.

what I would say is pretty certain is that it was never enough to justify a manager going crazy enough to get sent to the stand. if its a blatent thing then fair enough maybe but come on! he may not have agreed with the decision but its the worst decision really is it!

Hartley, who was 'fouled' had just been awarded L1 Player of the Month! Clearly not for his strength....

If I was a 'pool' fan, I'd be kicking off about Hartley, WTF was he doing!?

I get annoyed when I see CCFC players dive, Keogh and Cody (wasn't touched for the pen v Millwall) were really bad for it last season. McSheffrey was a culprit as well, and is our main man for diving this season. Christie has a habit to.

all fans are different. Id probably be like you, unhappy with the payer. Im sure there are some just hiding behind it should have been a foul. I hate diving and yes even when City players do it. Its up there amongst my most annoying things in football..........along with players standing about two yards away from a free kick - ref moving them back - players move forward again and the ref leaves it. also, Neil Warnock is one of my most annoying things in football too.

John Hughes quoted by Sky Sports saying that he told the referee regarding the McDonald goal that 'Livelihoods are at stake' when making decisions. Yes they are I suppose John but how about finding players that can shoot on target seeing as you registered NONE through-out the 90 mins. Not going to win games John doing that are we? Muppet

Hartlepool United striker James Poole has blasted a "ridiculous" decision that allowed Coventry City's Cody McDonald to score at the weekend.
Pools were undone by Fred Graham’s non award of a free-kick when they felt defender Peter Hartley was impeded by McDonald, the City striker then running clear before finishing.
"I thought it was a ridiculous decision," the 22-year-old Poole told SportMail.
"It was right in front of the linesman and he could see it was a foul. The ref had a good view of it as well and I don’t even need to see it again to know it was a foul.

"You’re just waiting for the whistle to go. How he’s not given it is beyond us."

Hmm, is that why when the FL Show showed it they didn't even mention that it might have been a foul and just said McDonald outmuscled him? Pretty sure Sky didn't mention it being a contentious issue either.

thats exactly right Gint and eludes to my point. either way that decision had gone, no-one could have moaned about it too much as its one of them, potentially could have gone either way - just cos the ref doesnt agree with you doesnt mean you are right, the ref is un biased. you as a manager are not.

if its a blatently bad decision then thats a bit different. but firstly, it wasnt blatent (in my eyes not even a foul). and you are totally right - dont try and hide behind one incident for the outcome of a whole game!

Just watched it and the other defenders didn't even seem to appeal?

It was good to see us playing to the whistle! Normally we'd have dilly dallied about.

Their defender looked to be half way down on the ground even before Cody challenged him! Definately looking for the foul, but doing nothing to get a decision in his favour

I know id be pissed off if the defender was one of our players and put in a shit awful challenge like that!

Saturday's ref was in the best 2 or 3 we've had at The Ricoh this season. One of the linesmen (our left wing first half) was shocking-as I believe the ref realised, seeing as he gave him the evil-eye for stuff he didn't flag for when the ref was unsighted, like the blatant hand-ball first half.

I also thought Cody did everything right on Tues when he hit the post, he had to put it out of the goalie's reach, tad unlucky.
