Hot off the press!

He's not even been on the bench since the end of December.

How solid is your source?

... Because if it's off that 'transfer rumours' site, old news pal.

Shame. He showed sparks, but just couldn't cut it. He's still young though.

(I know it's just a loan, but I don't expect him to be coming back)

Can he do a McG in L2? Hope so, so we can either start him or sell him for a reasonable price.

Certainly a shout. He's done the business there before.

He's got potential and this his is last chance to show it. If he can score some goals and show what he can do Robins will give him another chance, so good luck to him

Think there could be some truth in that one, he comes from that area aswell. If we can off load him and O'Donovan we could bring in a couple to help the push to the play offs.

Getting rid of him and ROD, bringing in Jason Scotland (free) and McG on a loan until May would be the ideal.

Seems a nice fella but I think it just comes down to the fact hes just not good enough.

His house in Keresley is back up to let so unless he's moving elsewhere in the city perhaps he could be off?

He was recently burgled, can imagine he would want to get out of Keresley asap and move to a more pleasant side of town.

I still feel he has enough talent for this division at least, even Championship if he could get his confidence back.

A good loan deal for the rest of this month and February could do him lots of good ,especially if he scores a few goals. His debut against Ipswich last season showed he got into good scoring positions and with a bit more luck could have got a couple of goals.

He needs games under his belt desperately, so i won't write him off yet ,and can see him being a good player for us ,especially if we have another season in this division, and with some coaching from Robins,as he was a good striker, he could play at Championship level imo

I still rate cody. Im sure hes got the goods. If you know how to find the net,you can do it at any level (hello ricky lambert).
Works 2 ways: finds his form and can do a job for us, or he doesnt fit in plans and we get him off the wage bill.

This could be a good move all round, Cody will come good for us I think, and the more games he plays, the sharper he will become, therefore, going out on loan closer to his friends and family and scoring a few goals, could help him and us when he returns.

IMO Cody could score goals in this current squad under MR we create a lot more chances dont forget he is getting most of the stick from AT days where the team was poor and didnt create to much.

If Robins thought he was good enough at this level he'd play him.

He doesn't.

I don't think it is necessarily good enough, it is purely down to fitness and personal issues, as his positional play is very good at times, however a lack of pre season has cost Cody and a lot of rumours circle around that he is not quite settled.
Prob's the best move for all at this current time.

No player at nearly 27 can have any excuses. He has not been a starter at Norwich or here. Why people are so patient and make excuses for him and yet are so hard on other players is beyond me.

Above League Two he has played a grand total of 59 games and scored 10 goals.

He's the new Eastwood for me, keep hearing that he'll come good but how long can you wait for something that decreasingly looks like happening? I think he needs a fresh start somewhere.

Don't know if it's been said but he's been given permission to train with Gillingham ahead of the proposed loan move.

Short term loan to get him some games, fitness and hopefully goals. Good move, hopefully it can get him going and i'm convinced he could score goals at this level.

I think Robin's wants him gone completely.

I was never impressed with him and thought he was a bad signing to start off with!

It seems no manager shares that view.

The local Kent new site says there may be a hitch with the wages.

He'll be going out to be put in the shop window. He's drop down a division get some games, hopefully goals then will be sold. The club will want to get some of their investment back and no ones going to pay for him sat in the stands.

He won't be here at the start of next season that's the sure.

Adrian Durham kept banging on about the fact that Peterborough wanted him and also had a bid accepted for him but we completely blew their wage offer out of the water.

look at it another way with a 1 goal in 6 strike rate and if we only had 1 or 2 chances per game would you want him as your main striker & even on the bench we could end up were we started at the start of the season, robins is right of load him sooner rather than later

Striker trains with Gills squad...

Check out our exclusive pictures of goal machine Cody McDonald training with the Gills at MEMS Priestfield earlier this morning.

The Coventry striker joined Martin Allen's squad today with a view to completing a loan move until the end of the season ahead of this weekend's match against York City.

Goal Machine...thats news to me

They'll be reporting that he's scored a hat-trick in training next.
