What is it about us getting cut out of the story of the development of our players? I remember when Wilson went it was all about “From Tamworth to the Prem”

really enjoyed the read. Interesting and Norwich are a well run club. I think we both got a good deal

Interesting read! he admits himself how he tires during the latter stages of matches. Seems a very likeable lad.

Good on him. Think he will go far, hes in a good set up to take him to that next step and beyond.

SISU should have held out for more cash up front instead of add ons. That extra 1.5 million when he makes his England debut in a couple of years time will be virtually worthless to us in the Premier League.

Shows that we pretty much had no choice in selling, which shouldn't be a surprise to the more sane amongst us, but the frothing, mouth breathers on the Facebook who blame the club perhaps ought to take a watch.

Watched a bit of the piece on sky sports. Seems a nice down to earth lad. Hate that Norwich are seen as such a big step up from us though.

Such is the cyclical nature of football. Who knows, in 5 years (or even 2!) we might have swapped places...

I always used to think of Norwich, Southampton and ourselves as very similar clubs. We're certainly the odd one out now though.

Possibly rising to £4.5 mil, whoever brokered that deal is a genius

"It takes an hour longer than predicted, because McCallum falls asleep inside the scanner, twitches, and they have to restart the machine."

Burst out laughing at this bit. Although if someone woke me up at 5am then told me to lie still for over 2 hours I'd probably do the same!

2.5-3.5 hours for an MRI scan?! Christ, when I've had one done it's been 20 mins tops and that was hard enough keeping still

He's going nowhere, both Norwich and Cov will be in the championship next season, so what's all this BS about his meteoric rise? He will no doubt earn more money, but he's not guaranteed a start at Norwich.
Just another George Thomas or Tom Baylis,
His agent has used him to make quick money, at the expense of guiding his career.

Norwich have been in the Premier League in 5 of the last 10 seasons, will have 25,000 crowds and a massive budget being one of the favourites to go up

We’ve been in League 2 more recently than the Premier League, will have 8,000 crowds if not back at the Ricoh, a tiny budget and one of the favourites to go down

The “we’ll be in the same league next season” as a way to say it was a bad move is nonsense - if a player moved from Watford to Liverpool it‘s not a bad move is it? One is likely to be competing for honours, the other struggling to stay up

It does seem odd the Dorsett fella from Sky is in the same car travelling to Norwich with him

Performances have dropped since his move to Norwich.

They will be in the Championship next season so he's not going to get the chance to make his Premier League debut yet.

I think he will be a Premier League player though, unlike Bayliss.

Sky have links with the Jamie Vardy Academy as they’ve been following its progress, and Vardy is with the same agency as Sam.

Maddison moved to Norwich when they were in the Championship. He's done OK. Also, try not to be a total dick. Ta!

He’s right though. He’s done nothing yet, and he does stand a good chance of being another Conor Thomas. And I don’t care what you say, the only difference between us and Norwich are the division they’re in, give us regular promotions and a bit of success and we’d be getting 25,000 as well, no bother. Might go well for him and I wish him the best but we’ve seen this too many times already, it very rarely pans out how they think it will.

At last a common sense reply, too many blinkered fanboys on here like that twat
Mmttww above. Look at the facts, McCallum hasn’t even had a full season of pro football yet, and he’s playing in a formation that offers plenty of defensive cover, which means he is rarely left exposed. He won’t have that luxury at Norwich, and in a higher division he will get cruelly exposed.
This transfer has come at least a year too soon for him, I wish him well, but I fear this move was engineered by his agent for the benefit of the agent rather than the player.

City also planned for the future, with the additions of youngsters Melvin Sitti and Sam McCallum, although a reported initial £3m price tag for the former Coventry City prospect is wide of the mark.

"I think everyone knows us well enough that we're not paying £3m up front for a 19-year-old who's played 21 games in League One," said Webber. "Can the deal get up towards those figures? Absolutely, if he plays for England, and plenty of first team games for us.

"Most of our deals are structured in a way that if the player really succeeds, the club that they've come from should be part of. A bit like for us with the sale of James Madison.

You say 'fanboy', I say optimist. You're also being selective about the examples you've chosen when the best example is someone who went to the same club, was put through their process (loans initially) and ended up playing at the top level. They knew what they were doing with Maddison, nothing to suggest they don't know what they're doing here. I reckon they know better than you.

You're also wishing bad things for the kid, I think that's a sh*tty thing to do. As for the formation argument, you're overlooking that our DMs and CAMs play narrow and never stray wide. He has no cover ahead of him. Again, I reckon Norwich's scouts are better placed than you and are capable of understanding the formation he's playing in and what that means.

There are a number of clear and obvious factors why we're miles behind them. Pre early 2000s fine but after that, no chance.
