Well That Goes Without Saying.

Just Hope They Perform Against Watford, if not, the Melt Down on Here on Saturday.

I'm sure forcing them to come to training on one of the few opportunities they have to have protracted time off outside of the summer months will work better

A strange lull in the process of a replacement, when they allegedly got 750k for Palmer , so surely that would take care of a free agent ?

Interesting part of the Burnley documentary was Kompany explaining the direct correlation between the number of sessions he and his team had with the players and them showing that on the pitch. Difficult to instill any ideas into anyone on a beach in Greece. And let’s be honest most of them only left the beach 6 weeks ago.

More training sessions doesn't necessarily mean they don't have time off though, does it?

Understand the idea, but the players are human beings. You can’t run them into the ground like a game of football manager.

They need a break to not become burnt out like everyone else. Perfect time to do it is in a two week break between games.

Okay, I suppose having 2 Months off in the Summer is Not Enough Then.

I'm always calling to not overload players but you can have training that is not intensive. You can go through tactics almost a walking pace to get them drummed into the brain.

I'm surprised they have been given a week off this early in the season. There's 2 more international breaks in Oct and Nov so would make more sense to have a week off then after they had played a decent amount of games. They are probably only just getting match fit now after 4 league and 2 cup games.

Burnt out? We’re 6 games in. So far we’ve looked non cohesive. Even if you didn’t want to make them run you could have had them together.

Mollycoddling them worked well this time last season I suppose. Only really turned around once Viveash insisted on them staying for training over the October internationals.

Every year we give the squad this week off and I think we give them the first week of the break in November as well. Normally benefits us well, this is when we start to pick up form, so why change what was working.

Makes me wonder if this week is as much for the coaches, analysts and MR to review what other sides are doing and adapt our tactics. Seems we often start our season trying to play possession based football then, after this break, start to play more backfoot counter attack style.

Burnley, Hull and Luton have all brought in free agents over the last 24 hours or so. Not us, we're obviously happy with four keepers in our squad.

it’s bizzare tbh. Like you say clubs have adjusted and we have a perfect short term fit with numerous people saying it’s a “no brainer” including me and yet nothing. We know there is interest there. I find it baffling myself.

Obviously your namesake disagrees. One more moderate to long term injury in midfield and he might regret it

At least we have got plenty of coaching staff. Apparently Patrick Suffo is at CCFC now coaching the U15s.

We have a talented squad and I am happy with the signings we made however were just a few bodies short, especially in midfield, I've said it before we're short of a ball winning DM, CM and a experienced CB.

Hull signed Alzate and Burnley signed Egan which would of be good signing for us.

Just take Brighton as a example, they have very talented players in their squad that's worth a hell of a lot money yet they have experienced players like Welbeck and Dunk in there, loads of teams do it aswell we need a few more older heads in our squad.

I understand that to keep finding new signings, profit needs to be made on a few players to be reinvested. That said, you do need some decent loans and yes a well placed free transfer or two to not only protect those investments but get you over the line.

As far as any of us know we may well have offered James a deal and he’s said no.

The sale of Palmer will feature heavily, led by the people who wanted rid of him.

Interesting hearing the palace defence on TS talking about how little work gets done on shape and formation during the season as the day after matches is a rest day and the day before is specifics against the team you are playing against.

so if you play Wednesday you rest Thursday, prepare Friday, play Saturday, rest Sunday, prepare Mon / Tuesday for your midweek fixture

god knows why you wouldn’t make the most of these 2 weeks

To be fair we can probably justify it this year as we don’t have a big change in the coaching personnel.

There might not be any direct profit in signing an aging midfielder as you can't sell him on. But if he keeps things knitted together until we are able to sign someone in january that takes us to the next level and gets us up, he's quids in anyway.

He needs to look at the bigger picture not just expecting to turn over profits on young players. Goes back to what I said about King potentially not being that bothered about promotion.

Im sure he wants to go up but if it's a case of "guaranteed profit (on rising stars) vs risk (throwing away money on aging players that might not get us up) it's clear which side of the equation he falls on.

At some point it becomes detrimental to the clubs push for promotion and I would argue the cup run last year did just that which is something King insisted on. That did nothing for our premier league ambitions but did raise the profile of the club and those players that he may be looking at moving on.

If we look at the squad photo it is 5 keepers, it is because none of the outfield players want to go in goal, so we need a GK available for every team if we want to play 5 aside.

Didn't you realise it could be the reason AV left.

It went something like this...

Ben Sheaf to Doug King - Doug, do you realise Adi makes one of us go in goal when we play 5 aside, the lads and myself don't like going in goal.
Doug - Adi, come here
Adi- its true boss and Wilson likes to play out too.
Doug, - ok lets get enough keepers to go around, and Wilson has to stay in goal
Adi - come on boss don't be silly, how many GK's do we need, and come to mention it how many forwards?
Doug - you can never how too many
Adi - You don't know much about football do you
Doug - Get out, no questioning my authority, you're fired
Doug - on phone to scouting department - get me another forward or 2 and do not let Collins go, I'll show him, and I'm even going to take his seat at the team photo
