I think the urgency and need for this deal really depends on Sheaf's situation. We still have had no official communication of what's happening with him after that 20 min cameo.

Agree 100%. If (and nobody has a crystal ball) Sheaf stays mainly fit between now and the January window, it would almost certainly be a waste giving James a contract. It's almost like forking out for a breakdown insurance policy for 3 months. I would hope we would be active in the January window, whether a loan or permanent signing re: cover/strengthening.

He certainly wasn't - but let's be honest, none of us know where he is now in terms of fitness (regardless of how much he has/hasn't regressed since last we had him). I have reservations about giving him a contract and would hope the MR/the coaches can come up with a tweak to our system/formation that makes us more effective when we have to cope with Sheaf's absence. If we lose to Watford (who are a dangerous outfit) I expect the usual meltdown from some, but I'm not going to get too concerned, unless we manage to mess up against what I think is a weaker than usual Swansea side (the Spurs game being irrelevant in the bigger picture) Ever the optimist. PUSB!

I have a breakdown policy and hope I never need to use it. Isn't that the point of a policy so that you're covered for the unexpected time that you do need it?

That was superceeded by these comments from MR:

"and that’s why it was a massive blow on Thursday when we lose him for however long we are going to lose him for.”

Asked what he’s done, he revealed: “It’s an aggravation of the same injury. We trained at the stadium on Thursday and he caught the ball on the end of his toe when a cross came in and he was taking a touch to shoot but he actually didn’t take the touch, tried to shoot, one touch. It would have been better if he’d have taken a touch because he wouldn’t have got injured, but the ball came across at some force and then he went through it and it just opened the injury up again, so it’s given him a little bit of pain.

“So whilst it’s not the same injury as before, it’s an aggravation. The break has come at a good time, I guess.”

Sheaf was out for five weeks with his initial ankle injury but it's unclear how much longer his recovery will take after this setback.

Turner deliberately missed half the interview out for clicks i feel. Robins said in that same interview that he was back training this week.

Yea, but I bet you ain't paying £10,000+ per week for your insurance policy!

If you were, you might think differently.

I want to see a decent performance for the whole 90 first and foremost. If we still lose despite that then fine, but it’s frustrating seeing us lose without really making the opposition earn it.

tbf DK would have a point I'd understand if his stance was something along the lines of:

• You didn't want Kelly here anymore
• You didn't want Palmer here anymore
• I paid good money for Torp and Rudoni
• This bloke has a history as a crock

I'm assuming some bits but if MR can't persuade DK, I won't go castigating him for it.

In an ideal world he wouldn’t have wanted to have lost him on the last day or two of the window but it was Palmer/his agent who forced the move and reckon Robins was happy enough to see him go

Presumably Robins wanted someone other than James before the transfer window shut but Doug and his recruitment team failed to deliver.

We were in for James 3 years ago.

We've supposedly progressed in them 3 years and James has declined yet we are still in for him now.

"That wasn’t our doing, that was forced through by the player and his agent. He’s in the last year of his contract. With Kasey you understand that as soon as you don’t offer him a new contract, and I wasn’t in a position to offer him a new contract, you know what he’s likely to do and how he’s likely to be. And there’s no point having him."

KP forced the move.

So far that's Sid James and Louie Walsh in the team.
Any more suggestions?

When did James become Messi, the key to unlock our season. Maybe King has said something sensible to Robins such as give Andrews a go rather than spaffing £10k a week for someone who won’t play most weeks. He won’t be selected ahead of Torp or Eccles. Far less ahead of Sheaf.

It is if they are unable to perform and put up the goal scoring numbers we want from them.

Andrews: Young, needs game time, decent potential, no extra on the wage bill, stays fit, developing our own talent.
James: Not the player we had 3 years ago, injury prone, extra cost, dubious impact certainly last season with Bristol.
I realise everyone is frothing at the mouth for a midfielder but I don’t think he’s the answer.
