Wouldn't complain as long as it doesn't bust the wage structure

Short term deal would solve a lot of issues with the midfield , adds experience at this level too

Do you mean literally or surnames that are also Christian names?

Said a few times, the one that confused me was christonabike

Might well have been Christ On A Bike, but could just have easily been..

Chris Tonabike

Christon Abike (Abeekay)

Christona Bike (Beekay)

Christo Nabike (Nabeekay)

Chri Stonabike(Stonabeekay)

Chris Tonab Ike. (Eekay)

For several years I wondered if he might be African.

I doubt he’d want a years deal. He’d be looking for at least 2 and want good money. However, seeing as we’re now saving 250k a week on Palmers wage then I guess his experience will be valuable?

Don’t recall him being particularly great for us when last here (not bad but not great either), but also my memory is terrible so this may be unfair. I don’t think he played loads of games?

I don’t think the expectation would be to be great to be honest mate.

Just do the simple things well and be a valuable member of the squad in terms of leadership etc.

the more you think about the signing the more it grows on me.

played something like 43 games last season.

He was good (not outstanding) in that first season back up in The Championship. I'd argue Liam Kelly's return to fitness was equally important in us staying up that season. 1 year deal at most. Would add numbers in CM, but I don't think he's any better than Josh Eccles., and I presume we'll be going for our CM targets again in January.

Actually got some solid info on this

Was explored back in July but of course we had other targets

First contact made Thursday after it became clear Kasey was leaving, James is keen, would love to come back and play in front of Cov fans as didnt during Covid. Still speaks regularly to Sheaf and Eccles.

Doesn't want silly money, we would be looking around 12 -15 a week, 1 year deal with another in clubs favour

Robins is very keen and wants to get it done, Doug blocked it as he "doesn't fit the model".

The poor performance of Saturday happened, Robins has stated again he wants him. James still keen, kept himself fit and is ready to go.

Big test for me this I feel. If James comes in it shows Robins really does still hold the reins.

If he doesnt, that would point to Doug being the man with more say on transfers than Robins

In my view anyway. I'm sure il be told I hate Doug etc

I’ve got a theory… Robins purposely made the team play shit on Saturday to convince Hey Duggy to sign Matty James!

I'd take him in a heartbeat, especially if he's keen. Would be fantastic for the squad.
