He’s our main man. It’s why that twat Campbell from Sheffield Utd was trying to rough him up last year.

The few Swansea fans I know are clearly not happy about him leaving still…”always passing sideways” and “only got a left peg…nothing else”.
The one was insisting that Galbraith is better than Grimes…”well we better come and sign him next then”.

I’m sure I read an Everton fan prior to us hiring him, attacking wise the football is great, and we’d score loads. Defensively Lampard is a lot to be desired. We’ve tightened up loads recently so I’ll be interested to see what happens when a team manages to put the pressure on us

He was always a classy player and his ability to recycle the ball is excellent.

I didn’t fully get on the hype train last year, as while he was a stand out player, I wanted to see him influence more - he’s certainly doing that this season.

Reliable, steady presence and a silent leader others I’m sure fully support.

He already has hasn’t he?

TBH there’s not a player in the squad I would upgrade if the chance came after promotion. But he’s up there with the best in terms of having a chance.

I’m not knocking how we are - just saying what an Everton fan said. But like I said. We’ll only fully see what we’re like when we’re out under serious pressure. Leicester had 2 really good chances that they should have scored.

we start to play some decent sides again in November, so that’ll be a benchmark

To be fair both Wednesday and Millwall had good chances but didn't score. Its the nature of this league, more often than not both teams will get opportunities.
Only Blues didn't lay a glove on us.

Every time he gets the ball I just relax instantly. You trust in him to use it well and if we are under pressure you know he is going to do what it takes to build us back up or get us out of trouble. He is also able to play really smart forward balls as well.

I see the Bannon and Grimes comparisons. More from the role they play in the team as the glue / lynchpin / fulcrum - take your pick of the words. Main difference would be the pressing and defensive side where Grimes is more disciplined and productive.

Bannon doesn’t really press or track back too far which might have saved his legs a bit and extended his career. Having said that, Grimes does look like he has years left in the tank.

He was very good yesterday and who knows, maybe the situation is bringing out an extra 20% in him. But across a season, even his most loyal worshipers know that he doesn’t really press or track back.

I love how people are trying to point score and are trying to one-up people on "I knew more about football than you", when they're talking about how many clean sheets we've kept because he quoted an Everton fan

I mean, we've kept 4 clean sheets, and in 2 of those 4, Blues and Wednesday, didn't register a single shot on target, Millwall managed 3 very tame, and the only real test was Leicester As he said, we'll know if we've fixed our defensive issues once we face a real test. As it stands, the only real test we've had this season was Leicester. We concede 3 very weak goals to Derby and 2 absolutely pathetic goals to a very poor Oxford. But do point score against my inferior knowledge, though, because we kept a clean sheet against a Wednesday side that didn't register a shot on target.

Blues, Millwall and Leicester will all be top half teams I suspect. Not sure what real test you are waiting for, a lot of the teams are a pretty similar standard to each other really.

Blues because they got a man sent off and spent too much money on a crock of shit.
Millwall because they were very wasteful with their chances. They actually managed more shots on goal than we did in the game. 3 on target. They were just poor. Simple as.
And Wednesday same as above. They actually managed to get 7 shots at goal with zero on target. All very poor with their chances. Blues we out possessed and out passed, the other 2 actually had more possession than us, they were both just very wasteful with it. That, added to our high press we kept the ball mostly in their half. Giving our defence and keeper, little to do. As ive said, we will no doubt have much harder tests going forward.

I mean, Norwich managed 1 shot on target with 2 shots and scored, Oxford 2 goals from 3 on target, QPR 1 from 1, Derby 3 from 4.

If you're trying to tell me, we've kept clean sheets solely on our defence becoming world class, and nothing to do with the wastefulness of the opposition, then I beg you to look at the goals we have conceded from very few efforts on target. We WILL have better teams have more shots in games than we have this week. It is how the defence stand up to that that they will be judged on. Not a clean sheet v Wednesday who are in a fucking mess from top to bottom.

I reckon we will get more than our money’s worth, even though we are unlikely to make a profit on him.

He has an excellent injury record and he is a classy player who makes the ball do the work. He doesn’t need lots of pace to do his job well, so he could be playing well into his mid to late 30s.

They weren't for most of the game. They were reduced to low-quality hopeful shots. They didn't have a proper shot in anger until they were 3 down, when our keeper produced excellent saves.

There's a reason why we aren't conceding many goals, and it's because we aren't giving away a high number of quality chances. Even Leicester only had one real high-quality chance. The rest of their efforts were from range, and our keeper dealt with them with reasonable comfort.

There was clearly an issue with defending balls into the box in the first few games, and part of that was probably down to the rustiness of our goalkeeper, who hadn't really played for a year.

In fact, we didn't give up too many good quality chances last season either, but we had a goalkeeper not of the required quality, so conceded more low-chance goals.

We won't have Burnleyesque miserliness, but I fully expect us to have one of the better defensive records come the end of the season.

His value to us in way in excess of £3.5m - particularly if he can Captain us (and control our play) all the way to the Premier League.

I think some away games that on paper and coming up will be very interesting to see. - Pompey Wrexham and Ipswich as examples. Two periods of time will again be interesting to see where we are - the next international break and at the end of New Year’s Day. At the moment it’s absolutely brilliant though

Ultimately we’ll only be able to definitely say after 46 games. Rushworth had a poor start but has now had 3 top games.

Get back to counting those points you've scored by thinking your opinion is better than anybody else's!
Most men notch women they've bed on their headboard! You're there notching opinions on a football forum! Well done! Rushworth has kept 4 clean sheets. Your mum must be so fucking proud that you called it? In fact, i bet she's already printed out that post, and it's already hanging on the fridge.

So people can't say a player is playing shit after 3 games, where let's be honest, he was having a fucking mare, but..... after 4 clean sheets, with only 1 real save of note to make, youre making him out to be prime Peter Schmeichel? Got ya

think We all said we’d struggle after a couple of injuries, shows what we all know, we’ve got players who can play in different positions and play just as good, said on the way up Saturday when the team came out, if we’re struggling to work out the formation then must be a nightmare for the other team,

Agree can only think of the Leeds and Burnley matches at home where he was less than brilliant. Was it against Burnley he gave them the ball back that led to the equaliser?
Think that is why Lamps drilled into the players not to show the opposition too much respect regarding the parachute teams.
